About the role
Convene Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced Audio Visual Event Technology Manager to oversee the technical operations for events held across their hospitality venues. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all audio and visual technology needs, ensuring that every event runs smoothly from setup through breakdown. The manager will work closely with event planners, clients, and internal teams to design and execute technology solutions tailored to each gathering. They will also be responsible for supervising a team of technicians, managing vendor relationships, and maintaining all equipment to the highest standards of quality and reliability. In this position, you will play a central role in shaping the attendee experience by delivering polished, professional audio and visual presentations that enhance every event. What you'll do
Lead the setup and operation of audio and visual equipment for events of varying sizes and formats
Coordinate with event coordinators and clients to understand their technical needs before each gathering
Manage a team of audio visual technicians and assign tasks for each event day
Oversee the installation, testing, and breakdown of all event technology infrastructure
Develop and maintain strong relationships with equipment vendors and external service providers
Create detailed technical plans and run sheets for each event to ensure smooth execution
Troubleshoot and resolve any audio or visual issues that arise during live events
Maintain and update an inventory of all audio visual assets and equipment
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and venue-specific technical guidelines and protocols
Train new team members on equipment operation, setup procedures, and event protocols
Collaborate with marketing and design teams to integrate visual branding into event setups
Monitor emerging technologies and recommend upgrades to keep the equipment portfolio current
Coordinate with building management and venue staff to ensure proper power and connectivity access
Document all event setups and technical configurations for future reference and repeatability
Requirements
Proven experience managing audio visual operations for large-scale events or hospitality venues
Strong working knowledge of sound systems, lighting, projection, and streaming technologies
Ability to lead and motivate a technical team in a fast-paced event environment
Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to address issues under time pressure
Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality results
Hands-on experience with event management software and scheduling tools is essential
A degree in audio engineering, information technology, or a related field is preferred
Willingness to travel within the New York metropolitan area as needed for events

Professional certification in audio visual technology or a related technical discipline is valued
Hands-on experience working with live streaming and virtual event platforms

Proficiency with digital signal processing and mixing consoles
Experience with LED lighting systems and stage design software
Familiarity with wireless microphone technologies and frequency coordination
Comfortable using project management and event scheduling applications
Knowledge of network infrastructure for live event connectivity
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and floor plans

This role is based in New York, NY and requires on-site presence at Convene Hospitality Group offices and venues
Regular travel to different event locations within the New York metropolitan area may be necessary
