About the role
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the human resources functions for our teams based in India. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all People Operations activities are executed effectively, in compliance with regulations, and with a strong emphasis on the employee experience. This role serves as a vital link between People, Finance/Payroll, and business operations, emphasizing operational discipline, accurate HRMS data management, and reliable governance for payroll, attendance, documentation, and employee support. This is a hands-on role that demands a keen eye for detail and the capability to develop scalable processes.

What you'll do
- Supervise all aspects of People Operations in India, encompassing the entire employee lifecycle, updates to HRMS, necessary documentation, and adherence to policies.
- Establish and uphold the operational rhythm for India People Ops, which includes weekly checklists, monthly calendars, and exception logs to ensure operations are predictable and auditable.
- Collaborate with the Finance/Payroll team to coordinate monthly payroll inputs, addressing attendance, leave, deductions, additions, exceptions, and validation processes.
- Oversee attendance governance and manage exception handling, ensuring all necessary approvals and supporting documents align with company policy.
- Keep an accurate compliance calendar for payroll cutoffs, ensuring timely completion with minimal need for rework.
- Ensure precise management of HRMS data, including employee master data, reporting structures, work models, policy acknowledgments, and access controls.
- Handle standard documentation workflows, such as employment letters, salary letters, confirmations, and verifications, while adhering to established service level agreements and template standards.
- Implement a structured HR helpdesk process for intake, triage, resolution, and escalation, ensuring documented turnaround times for queries.
- Work closely with HR Business Partners and leadership on sensitive cases, ensuring thorough documentation and a clear history of each case.
- Manage operational checklists for onboarding and offboarding, which includes document collection, HRMS actions, and exit workflows to ensure a consistent employee experience.
- Oversee the full and final settlement process, ensuring that exits are completed with accurate documentation and timely closure.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring People Ops workflows to guarantee consistent application across various teams.
- Monitor key People Ops metrics, such as case volume, SLA adherence, recurring issues, and exception trends, and recommend data-driven improvements.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in People Operations or HR Operations, preferably in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
- Proven experience in managing payroll input governance, attendance and leave workflows, monthly cutoffs, and handling exceptions.
- High proficiency in HRMS hygiene, ensuring data accuracy, managing approvals, reporting lines, policies, and access controls.
- Solid background in managing employee documentation, including letters and templates, onboarding and offboarding processes, and coordinating full and final settlements with attention to detail.
- Ability to create SOPs, checklists, and trackers that minimize individual dependencies and enhance operational scalability.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Finance/Payroll, IT, and business leaders, knowing when to escalate issues and how to document them.
- A calm, structured, and service-oriented demeanor, capable of professionally addressing employee queries while maintaining policy consistency.
- Excellent written communication skills and comfort in handling sensitive and confidential employee information.
