About the Position
Column is seeking a strategic operator to own the risk program lifecycle for our fintech partners. This role sits at the intersection of banking, product, and compliance, requiring a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. You will manage critical risk initiatives end-to-end while directly influencing the resilience and growth of our financial ecosystem. The position offers significant autonomy and a chance to shape how a modern bank interfaces with the fintech world. This is a full-time position based in San Francisco with a competitive compensation range of $180,000 to $240,000 USD.
The Opportunity
We are building a new kind of bank for the software era, and your work will be foundational. In this position, you will act as the internal architect for our risk infrastructure, ensuring our fintech partnerships are both innovative and secure. You will translate complex regulatory landscapes into actionable strategies, directly impacting our company's trajectory. The role is designed for a business athlete who is comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives without direct oversight. You will command significant influence over key decisions that define our market position.
What You'll Do
- Architect Risk Infrastructure: You will act as the internal architect for our risk infrastructure, ensuring our fintech partnerships are both innovative and secure.
- Manage Program Lifecycle: You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our fintech risk programs, establishing the frameworks for ongoing monitoring and performance evaluation.
- Drive Strategic Analysis: You will analyze key metrics and trends to identify potential risks and outliers, triggering necessary investigations and adjustments.
- Lead Partnership Assessment: You will collaborate with business development and legal teams to assess and document the risk and compliance implications of new fintech partnerships.
- Champion Process Innovation: You will identify bottlenecks within our current banking stack and architect new, high-velocity processes to support scaling partnerships.

Requirements for Success
- Professional Background: You must possess two or more years of professional experience in high-growth environments, including roles in management consulting, financial services, fintech, or financial regulatory agencies.
- Learning Agility: You must rapidly master new systems and concepts, solving problems efficiently with a bias for action.
- Operational Discipline: You must manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, maintaining precision and accuracy on sensitive risk and compliance topics.
- Industry Interest: While prior banking experience is not mandatory, you must demonstrate a genuine interest in finance, technology, and risk management.
- Work Ethic: You possess a scrappy, hands-on attitude, committed to creative problem-solving and collaborative execution.
