Operating within a small biotech environment, the hire will function with a high degree of autonomy while fostering extensive cross-functional collaboration across commercial and scientific teams. This position is fundamentally responsible for building enduring peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders, payers, and other critical stakeholders who specialize in oncology treatment and related therapeutic areas. The role demands the delivery of high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange concerning Coherus products, pipeline assets, and relevant disease states to advance clinical and translational initiatives. Ultimately, the MSL acts as a strategic scientific advisor, cultivating influential relationships to promote disease state awareness and ensure the safe and effective utilization of the company's oncology pipeline within the assigned region.

What you'll do

Establish Coherus Oncology as a leading innovative oncology company focused on developing best-in-class medicines that overcome immune resistance in cancer.

Develop, track, and execute key opinion leader (KOL) engagement plans by identifying, developing, and maintaining long-term collaborative relationships with KOLs within the assigned region.

Maintain deep clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in oncology areas relevant to Coherus products and pipeline to ensure authoritative knowledge.

Deliver high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange regarding company products, pipeline assets, and relevant disease areas to the medical community.

Present clinical value propositions to payers and regional accounts to inform payer formulary decisions and coverage strategies.

Engage in continuous learning within the therapeutic areas represented and actively participate in upskilling programs related to assigned molecules, products, disease states, and relevant business topics.

Heighten the medical affairs presence and visibility by leading individual projects and strategic initiatives that enhance the company's scientific footprint.

Collaborate with medical affairs, clinical development, commercial teams, and serve as a primary Coherus resource for HCPs, large group medical practices, payers, and formulary decision makers.

Provide timely medical and clinical feedback and insights derived from interactions with KOLs, investigators, and other stakeholders to internal teams.

Respond to and meticulously document unsolicited requests for information on Coherus products and clinical programs to ensure accurate scientific information dissemination.

Participate in and support the training of Coherus field and home office employees to elevate overall scientific understanding and engagement capabilities.

Facilitate research collaborations, including the generation of Real-World Data (RWD) and Investigator Sponsored Trials (ISTs), with key investigators to advance evidence generation.

Represent the company at medical meetings through Medical Affairs' Medical Booth coverage and other related scientific and commercial activities.

Engage in speaker identification, training, and evaluation processes, and provide support for advisory board meetings as requested to ensure high-quality scientific dialogue.

Collaborate with Market Access and Commercial colleagues on thought leader and institutional engagement strategies where appropriate to align objectives and maximize impact.

Support internal requests for dossier review and comment, providing medical review and consideration for potential business development opportunities and strategic initiatives.

Act as a scientific expert and trusted advisor to key stakeholders, translating complex scientific data into actionable insights for clinical and commercial decision-making.

Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of medical science liaison activities to meet and exceed departmental objectives.

Requirements

The candidate must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant scientific field.

Board certification or eligibility in oncology, internal medicine, or a related specialty is required for medical doctors.

Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of 8+ years in medical affairs, clinical development, or a scientific role within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a medical science liaison role or a closely related scientific advisory capacity is mandatory.

In-depth therapeutic knowledge in oncology, particularly in immuno-oncology and related immune resistance mechanisms, is a strict prerequisite for this position.

Exceptional skills in scientific communication and presentation are required to effectively engage with healthcare professionals and stakeholders at the highest level.

The ability to synthesize complex scientific data and translate it into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for diverse audiences is essential.

Candidates must be highly self-motivated, disciplined, and capable of managing multiple priorities and complex projects in a dynamic field environment without direct supervision.

Relocation to the Mid-Atlantic Region is required for this field-based position to ensure full engagement and presence.
