About the role

The will own the scientific and medical strategy for the assigned territory, acting as the primary field-based expert for bezuclastinib across oncology, hematology/oncology, and allergy/immunology therapeutic areas. This role owns the development and execution of a regional medical plan that aligns with corporate objectives and the clinical development of bezuclastinib. The Senior MSL will mentor internal colleagues, influence without authority, and foster collaboration across Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Patient Advocacy teams to ensure consistent and accurate scientific communication. This position requires high emotional intelligence and the ability to translate complex data into actionable clinical insights for key opinion leaders and healthcare providers. The Senior MSL will contribute to ongoing medical education, share best practices across the MSL network, and guide the prioritization of scientific insights and administrative deliverables. Success in this role will directly support advancing bezuclastinib as a next-generation therapy for patients with unmet medical needs in Systemic Mastocytosis and Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor.

What you'll do

• Manage the assigned territory as a scientific and medical expert in GIST and Systemic Mastocytosis, providing thought leadership and medical guidance.
• Help shape marketing strategy by translating complex scientific data into actionable clinical insights and identifying unmet needs through key opinion leader engagement.
• Support strategic priorities developed in collaboration with Medical Affairs and Patient Advocacy, aligned with corporate goals and ongoing clinical development and commercialization activities.
• Develop and execute a territory strategy aligned with regional business objectives while ensuring compliant, accurate, data-driven scientific exchange.
• Lead scientific engagement with thought leaders, subject matter experts, investigators, and healthcare professionals to gather insights on clinical practice, scientific developments, and competitive trends.
• Cultivate peer-to-peer relationships with top-tier scientific and medical experts (Key Opinion Leaders) to drive deep understanding of bezuclastinib and the disease landscape.
• Build and maintain a strong network of experts; implement field-based medical education programs that are impactful, measurable, and aligned with strategic goals.
• Serve as a scientific resource for internal Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Patient Advocacy teams, ensuring field insights are captured and leveraged.
• Provide input on clinical trial design, investigator selection, and protocol development based on field feedback and scientific trends.
• Act as a liaison between Cogent Biosciences and the medical community to ensure timely and accurate communication of study results and safety data.
• Monitor and analyze competitor activities, therapeutic advancements, and regulatory changes, and communicate implications to cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to the development of medical materials, publications, and presentations that reflect the latest science and data.
• Support medical advisory boards and scientific congress activities, including abstract submissions, speaker training, and booth engagement strategies.
• Ensure adherence to corporate standards, policies, and regulatory requirements in all scientific interactions and communications.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with a valid medical license in good standing.
• Board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Hematology, or a relevant specialty with active certification or eligibility.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-residency experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or a related field within oncology or immunology.
• Demonstrated experience in medical strategy development, territory management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proven track record of engaging with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals in academic or industry settings.
• Strong understanding of Systemic Mastocytosis, Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor, and related molecular pathways, including KIT mutations.
• Experience with clinical trials in oncology or hematology, including study design, data interpretation, and safety profiling.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with tyrosine kinase inhibitors or targeted therapies in oncology.
• Familiarity with digital engagement tools and virtual medical education platforms.
• Experience in allergy/immunology or advanced mastocytosis care.
