About the role

You will partner with sales teams to define and execute technical strategies that win enterprise CockroachDB deals in Singapore and across Southeast Asia. You will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex distributed SQL capabilities into clear business and technical outcomes for large, regulated organizations. You will design and run proof-of-concept projects that validate CockroachDB as the ideal platform for modern, scalable, and resilient applications. You will collaborate closely with product management and engineering to provide field feedback that shapes product direction and messaging. You will own the technical narrative in competitive sets, articulating why CockroachDB is the right choice for infrastructure-critical workloads. You will mentor junior engineers and sales staff on best practices for selling and deploying CockroachDB in production environments. The role demands deep technical curiosity, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.

What you'll do

Develop and deliver technical presentations that clearly communicate the value proposition of CockroachDB to technical and executive stakeholders.

Lead complex proof-of-concept projects, from scoping and environment setup to successful validation of business and technical objectives.

Conduct live product demonstrations and build prototypes that showcase CockroachDB's scalability, resilience, and SQL compatibility.

Collaborate with sales teams to qualify opportunities, define technical requirements, and build compelling solution architectures.

Work with product management and engineering teams to surface customer feedback, prioritize features, and influence the CockroachDB roadmap.

Provide technical guidance to customers on deployment architectures, operational best practices, and migration strategies for moving to CockroachDB.

Support pre-sales activities such as responses to security questionnaires, technical assessments, and proof-of-concept reviews.

Act as a technical champion within customer organizations, identifying new use cases and expansion opportunities for CockroachDB.

Engage with the broader ecosystem of partners and consultants to drive adoption and ensure successful implementations.

Continuously refine your expertise in database technologies, distributed systems, and industry-specific challenges to maintain thought leadership.

Requirements

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

You have 5+ years of experience in software sales engineering, solutions architecture, or a similar technical role.

You have 3+ years of experience working with distributed systems or databases in a professional capacity.

You have hands-on experience with SQL databases and are comfortable navigating database schemas and query plans.

You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly and ambiguity is common.

You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.

You are comfortable working remotely and collaborating effectively across distributed teams and time zones.

You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple technical workstreams simultaneously.

You are legally authorized to work in Singapore and do not require sponsorship for this role at this time.

Nice to have

Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native infrastructure.

Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven environments such as financial services or healthcare.

Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and their database services.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Background in teaching, mentoring, or presenting at technical events.

Practical notes

This role is full-time and remote based in Singapore.

Work hours are aligned with business needs and may require availability during overlapping hours with global teams.

Travel may be required occasionally for customer visits, industry events, or internal meetings.
