About the role
The Life Sciences Senior Consultant role at ClearView Healthcare Partners is positioned within the Investor pillar, where the firm creates best practices and frameworks for buy-side and sell-side due diligence teams. The role focuses on advancing expertise in valuation strategies and deal-making within the healthcare sector. You will own the strategic direction and execution of complex life sciences projects, directly interfacing with C-suite executives at biopharmaceutical clients. Your work will center on conducting deep due diligence and framing critical business questions that drive value for both buy-side and sell-side teams. The position is based in New York, New York, United States, Boston, Massachusetts, United States, and requires at least 50% presence in one of the firm's offices in Boston, New York, or San Francisco to ensure team cohesion and collaboration.
What you'll do
- Conduct complex problem-solving using a hypothesis-based approach to deconstruct strategic challenges within the biopharmaceutical space.
- Collaborate with leadership and clients to design and execute on project workstreams with precision and agility.
- Perform primary and secondary research to uncover critical insights that inform high-stakes decisions for clients.
- Deliver recommendations and manage client needs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with stated objectives.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, cultivating a culture of excellence and continuous learning across the engagement team.
- Utilize analytic tools, including forecast models, to support decision-making and validate strategic assumptions with data-driven evidence.
- Lead projects and refine a broad range of expertise and skills across biopharmaceutical and investment landscapes.
- Build valuable connections that advance your career and expand ClearView's influence within the healthcare ecosystem.
- Frame and tackle complex problems, breaking down ambiguity into actionable insights for clients and stakeholders.
- Establish rapid credibility and trust with leadership by consistently delivering high-impact strategic advice and recommendations.
- Drive content and process-related client communications independently, with a high degree of ownership and reliability.
- Demonstrate mentorship for junior team members through active guidance, structured coaching, and constructive feedback.
- Engage in due diligence projects, drawing on deep industry knowledge to uncover value creation opportunities for clients.
- Present to clients in critical business situations, articulating recommendations with clarity and conviction to support informed decision-making.
- Contribute to developing best practices that define ClearView's approach to strategic decision-making in life sciences and biopharmaceutical consulting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a life sciences discipline with 3+ years in life sciences consulting or a PhD/post doc in the life sciences or an MD with 1.5+ years experience in life sciences consulting.
- 2+ years of experience with due diligence projects is preferred as a core part of your expertise and background.
- Ability to frame and tackle more complex problems without reliance on rigid templates or predefined solutions, applying hypothesis-based problem solving.
- Proven skill in establishing rapid credibility and trust with leadership across diverse organizational contexts and client environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex concepts for executive audiences and senior stakeholders.
- Strong upward communication and active thought partnership during internal discussions to shape project direction and strategic outcomes.
- Trusted to drive content and process-related client communications with independence, reliability, and high ownership of deliverables.
- Demonstrated mentorship for junior team members through structured coaching, guidance, and professional development initiatives.
- Independent workstream ownership, managing multiple priorities, deliverables, and timelines in a fast-paced, dynamic consulting environment.
- Ability to work in our Boston, New York or San Francisco offices at least 50% of the time to maintain team cohesion and enable effective collaboration.
- Starting salary for this position is $160,000, with performance bonus opportunity as part of the total compensation package.
