About the role
You will own core month end close activities for a Boston based client while partnering closely with their finance team. The position focuses on driving general ledger and balance sheet close tasks, preparing detailed journal entries, and maintaining accurate, complete financial records. You will document processes clearly and work independently within a structured finance environment. This is a contracted engagement operating under a defined duty order. You will coordinate with auditors by preparing schedules and responding promptly to their requests during fieldwork. Analyzing account activity forms a core responsibility, requiring you to explain variances and ensure supporting reconciliations align with month end procedures. You will partner with the Accounting Manager on special projects, ad hoc reporting, and process improvements for finance operations.

What you'll do
- Drive month end close tasks across general ledger and balance sheet accounts for a Boston based client, ensuring alignment with firm standards and timelines.
- Prepare journal entries for fixed assets, prepaids, intangibles, debt, Concur out-of-pocket expenses, and JPM accruals with meticulous documentation and clear rationale.
- Coordinate with auditors by preparing schedules and responding promptly to their requests during fieldwork to facilitate a smooth examination process.
- Analyze account activity to explain variances and ensure supporting reconciliations align precisely with established month end procedures and control objectives.
- Partner with the Accounting Manager on special projects, ad hoc reporting, and process improvements that enhance the efficiency and reliability of finance operations.
- Maintain the general ledger so that balance sheet accounts remain accurate, complete, and consistently ready for review by internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Support cross department communication so priorities from project leadership and compliance teams remain synchronized and clearly understood.
- Assist with year end close activities and other finance initiatives as requested by leadership and client stakeholders to meet organizational goals.
- Leverage strong systems knowledge to ensure timely and accurate financial processing within a client facing setting while upholding quality standards.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and validate transaction accuracy to support the integrity of financial reporting and audit readiness.
- Monitor open items and aging reports to ensure resolution in a disciplined manner in accordance with firm policies and client requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation of management reporting packages that provide clear insights into the financial position and performance of the client.
- Apply rigorous review practices to ensure all deliverables meet the expectations of the engagement team and regulatory expectations.
- Act as a key point of contact for finance related inquiries, escalating complex issues appropriately and tracking resolution progress.
Requirements
You must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and demonstrate understanding of life sciences advisory service lines. Prior experience must include completing month end close responsibilities with at least 1 year of accounting experience focused on general ledger. Strong attention to detail is required when preparing schedules and reconciling balance sheet accounts. Proficiency with accounting systems such as NetSuite is required, while navigating Microsoft Excel for financial analysis is expected. Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills are necessary to interact with internal teams and company leadership, including finance, compliance, and project management. You must work independently and coordinate across departments to manage multiple priorities in a client facing setting. You must adhere to all firm policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to engagements in the life sciences sector. The selected candidate will follow all established controls and procedures to safeguard client information and ensure compliance. Candidates must be comfortable working within structured engagement frameworks and managing responsibilities under defined duty orders.

Comfort using Salesforce and NetSuite to support client deliverables during consulting engagements is preferred.
