VP of Finance and M&A

About the role

Civitech seeks a Vice President of Finance and M&A to spearhead the financial execution of our portfolio roll-up and acquisition strategy. We are a public benefit corporation committed to strengthening democracy through technology. This role is critical to scaling that impact. You will work alongside our CFO to identify, evaluate, and integrate acquisitions that expand our platform and mission. Success in this position requires a hands-on leader who builds robust financial systems to replace manual processes and drive sustainable growth. This is a full-time position based in Austin, Texas, or remote. The salary range is $180,000 to $220,000 annually.

Core Responsibilities

You will design and manage the financial workflows that govern our acquisition lifecycle. This includes creating standardized intake procedures to assess potential targets and prepare for integration from the earliest stages. You will develop detailed financial models to analyze opportunities and forecast performance across combined entities.

A central function of this role is establishing review frameworks that monitor key performance indicators for all businesses and pipelines. You will coordinate the production of financial reports that provide clarity for executive decisions during periods of rapid expansion. You will also construct the partner processes that align budgeting, forecasting, and reporting with our collective strategic objectives.

Technology is central to this position. You will implement the infrastructure that consolidates transaction data and enhances forecast precision. To support stakeholders, you will build dashboards that communicate performance metrics to internal and external audiences. Maintaining thorough documentation of procedures, assumptions, and decisions is required to ensure clear audit trails.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a minimum of three to five years of experience in corporate finance or investment environments. Demonstrated history with mergers and acquisitions activities is mandatory. You must have a proven track record of operating independently across multiple portfolio companies and acquisitions.

The ability to manage operational finance tasks without the support of administrative staff is essential. You must have a working knowledge of Civitech products, including Democracy Engine and Givebutter. A firm understanding of Salesforce and Stripe integration within technology stacks is required.

Additional Experience

Experience supporting progressive political committees and their specific finance workflows is a distinct advantage.

Tools and Skills

Proficiency with Democracy Engine, Givebutter, Salesforce, and Stripe is necessary for success.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Bring three to five years of progressive experience in corporate finance or investment roles.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing mergers and acquisitions from initial evaluation to close.
• Operate autonomously while managing financial workflows across multiple portfolio companies and acquisitions.
• Execute operational finance responsibilities without reliance on administrative support.
• Apply deep knowledge of Civitech products, specifically Democracy Engine and Givebutter, in prior roles.
• Leverage a firm understanding of Salesforce and Stripe integrations within complex technology environments.
• Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical problem solving under tight deadlines.
• Communicate financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
