What you'll do

Design and implement robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Optimize existing data workflows for performance and efficiency, ensuring high availability and reliability of data systems.
Develop and maintain data models and schemas that support analytical queries and reporting needs.
Monitor data quality and integrity, implementing validation checks and error handling mechanisms to ensure data accuracy.
Utilize cloud services and technologies to build scalable data solutions, leveraging platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Document data engineering processes, architectures, and workflows to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, recommending improvements and innovations to existing practices.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices for data engineering within the team.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration to support data-driven projects and initiatives across various departments.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data manipulation and processing.
Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, as well as familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience with ETL tools such as Apache NiFi, Talend, or AWS Glue.
Understanding of data modeling techniques and best practices for data architecture.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
Knowledge of machine learning concepts and frameworks, enabling collaboration with data scientists.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
Previous experience in an Agile development environment, contributing to iterative project delivery.
Understanding of data governance and compliance regulations, such as GDPR.
