About the role
Chowdeck is seeking a talented and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in Ikoyi, Lagos. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our development and operational processes, ensuring that our systems are efficient, reliable, and scalable. You will collaborate closely with software developers, system operators, and other IT staff to manage code releases and automate our infrastructure, ultimately contributing to the overall success of our innovative food delivery platform.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline the software development lifecycle, ensuring rapid and reliable deployment of applications.
- Collaborate with software development teams to create and manage infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and enhance user experience.
- Implement and manage container orchestration solutions, such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm, to optimize application deployment and scaling.
- Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure the quality and performance of applications before deployment.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, ensuring cost-effectiveness and security compliance.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems, addressing incidents and outages as they arise.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and best practices with team members.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our operations and recommending improvements.
- Work closely with security teams to implement best practices and ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to application performance, network connectivity, and system integrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps or similar role, with a strong understanding of software development and IT operations.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby, with the ability to automate tasks and improve workflows.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, cloud services, and virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with microservices architecture and service mesh technologies.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
- Familiarity with database management systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks and security best practices in cloud environments.
- Previous experience in the food tech or e-commerce industry.
