About the role
Chime is looking for a Product Designer to help shape the future of digital banking experiences. The role focuses on creating user-centered designs for financial products and services that millions of people rely on every day. The designer will collaborate with engineers, researchers, and product managers across the organization to deliver meaningful improvements. This is a full-time position based in one of the company's offices in the United States, with locations available in major metropolitan areas.

What you'll do
- Lead design efforts for new customer-facing features across the digital banking platform and mobile applications.
- Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for user-facing interfaces and end-to-end user flows.
- Partner closely with product managers to define user stories, detailed requirements, and measurable success metrics.
- Conduct user research sessions, interviews, and usability testing to inform and validate all design decisions.
- Continuously iterate on design solutions based on feedback from stakeholders, end users, and cross-functional team members.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive design system ensuring visual and interaction consistency across all company products.
- Present design concepts and rationale clearly to cross-functional team members, leadership, and external partners when needed.
- Analyze user behavior data, session recordings, and analytics to identify opportunities for meaningful product improvement.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure all designs are technically feasible and implemented to standard.
- Advocate for accessibility, inclusive design practices, and equitable experiences throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Participate actively in design reviews, critique sessions, and contribute to the overall product vision and strategy.
- Translate complex financial concepts and regulatory requirements into simple, clear, and intuitive user flows and interfaces.
- Work with user researchers to incorporate findings into design iterations and inform key product decisions.
- Ensure all designs meet brand guidelines, design system standards, and align with the company's overall vision.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, visual design, or a related field is required.
- Proven experience designing digital products in a fast-paced, iterative, and collaborative environment is essential.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of product design work, case studies, and design thinking.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools for creating polished digital product experiences.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, methodologies, and frameworks applied to real-world product challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting with diverse roles and perspectives.
- Experience with mobile and web design patterns, established user interface conventions, and responsive design.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting design ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with agile development processes, sprint-based workflows, and iterative delivery methodologies is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Experience with design systems and component libraries to scale design decisions across multiple products.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make informed design decisions with incomplete information.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working in fintech, financial services, or consumer technology industries is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG, ADA guidelines, and inclusive design principles is highly valued.
- Background in user research methods, usability testing, A/B testing, and quantitative data analysis is very helpful.
- Familiarity with front-end development technologies, design tokens, and design-to-code implementation workflows is considered beneficial.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in Figma for interface design, design collaboration, component libraries, and interactive prototyping work.
- Experience with Sketch for creating detailed design assets, visual systems, and scalable design components.
- Familiarity with InVision, ProtoPie, or similar prototyping platforms for conducting user testing and validation.
- Understanding of HTML and CSS fundamentals for effective design handoff and developer collaboration.
- Ability to create interactive, animated prototypes that demonstrate complex user flows and micro-interactions.
- Comfort with version control tools like Abstract, Plant, or similar systems for managing design files.

- This role is based in either New York, NY or San Francisco, CA, USA, with the specific location confirmed during the hiring process.
- The position requires regular on-site presence at one of the company's offices, with a flexible hybrid schedule available.
