About the role
Chartis seeks a technically fearless Senior Platform Engineer to own the design and delivery of next-generation infrastructure that underpins AI capabilities for world-class healthcare consultants. In this role, you will architect and operate scalable, secure, and reliable cloud platforms on Azure using Infrastructure as Code and modern GitOps practices. You will lead the implementation of robust Kubernetes networking and automation solutions while ensuring operational excellence and high system availability. You will partner closely with product, security, and consulting teams to translate complex business requirements into resilient technical platforms. This position demands deep expertise in Azure services, Terraform, and Kubernetes to solve challenging cross-team infrastructure problems. You will champion a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization. As a hands-on technical leader, you will mentor engineers and drive standards that enable rapid, safe, and scalable infrastructure delivery.

What you'll do
Design and develop a robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platform for Azure using Terraform, ensuring scalability and maintainability for enterprise healthcare environments.
Implement and manage cloud-native GitOps CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Argo CD or Flux CD to automate infrastructure delivery and accelerate release cycles.
Define and maintain reliable cloud infrastructure and tools, incorporating IaC best practices to support rapid iteration while preserving stability and security.
Build solutions with a DevOps mindset, seeking to automate integration and deployment so features can scale effectively and meet demanding healthcare timelines.
Design and implement Kubernetes networking solutions, including CNI configuration, Gateway API, and network segmentation using NetworkPolicy and Azure Network Security Groups to enforce strict isolation.
Manage and optimize AKS cluster lifecycle, including node pool configuration, cluster upgrades, and autoscaling strategies across availability zones to ensure performance and cost efficiency.
Design and enforce pod-level and namespace-level network segmentation using Kubernetes NetworkPolicy and Azure Network Security Groups to reduce attack surface and meet compliance requirements.
Enforce workload identity and least-privilege access patterns using Azure Managed Identity and AKS OIDC integration, eliminating static credentials and strengthening security posture.
Champion best practices for observability, availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of distributed systems, including SLO definition, error budget management, and capacity planning for critical healthcare workloads.
Establish security best practices for cloud environments to ensure data protection and that SOC2 controls are in place and auditable, aligning with healthcare regulatory expectations.
Conduct operational reviews and drive root cause analysis to maintain high uptime and system health, minimizing disruption for consulting teams and clients.
Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design docs, and post-mortems to foster a culture of technical growth, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
Partner effectively across multiple teams and with product and security stakeholders to ensure platform decisions reflect business requirements, risk tolerance, and the unique needs of the healthcare sector.
Translate complex technical decisions and engineering tradeoffs into business risk and impact for non-technical stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making at strategic levels.
Represent platform constraints and capabilities clearly in cross-functional discussions to align roadmap planning, budgeting, and delivery expectations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related scientific/engineering field as a foundational basis for advanced platform responsibilities.
5+ years of relevant industry experience shipping world-class products as part of a highly functional software development team in demanding environments.
Demonstrated familiarity with deploying AI PaaS solutions such as Azure AI Search and Azure AI Foundry to support intelligent healthcare applications and workflows.
Deep technical proficiency with Azure Cloud and expert-level knowledge of Terraform for building, maintaining, and securing infrastructure at scale.
3+ years' experience administering managed or self-hosted Kubernetes clusters, including deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals and broad awareness of the CNCF ecosystem to ensure platform reliability.
Proven track record of implementing cloud-native GitOps CI/CD workflows using Argo CD, Flux CD, or similar tools to automate infrastructure and application delivery with traceability.
5+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating cloud networking in Azure, including VNET architecture, Network Security Groups, private endpoints, and AKS-integrated networking with demonstrable experience troubleshooting and resolving production network issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to translate complex technical decisions and engineering tradeoffs into business risk and impact for non-technical stakeholders.
Experience representing platform constraints and capabilities clearly in cross-functional forums to ensure alignment between engineering, product, and security teams.
Commitment to operating with high integrity, professionalism, and discretion when working with sensitive healthcare data and strategic initiatives.
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment with strong self-direction, time management, and collaboration across distributed teams.
