As a Divemaster Intern, you will be an integral part of our team, assisting in the daily operations of our dive center and engaging with guests from around the globe. Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist certified instructors in conducting diving courses and guiding dive trips for guests of varying skill levels.
- Participate in daily dive operations, including equipment setup, maintenance, and safety checks to ensure a smooth experience for all divers.
- Engage with guests to provide exceptional customer service, sharing knowledge about local marine life and dive sites.
- Conduct pre-dive briefings to inform participants about safety protocols, dive plans, and environmental considerations.
- Help in the organization and execution of marine conservation projects, such as reef clean-ups and species monitoring.
- Maintain dive logs and assist in the documentation of guest experiences and dive activities.
- Collaborate with the team to develop educational materials and presentations on marine ecology and conservation efforts.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance your diving skills and knowledge of marine environments, including workshops on underwater photography and marine biology.
- Assist in the management of social media accounts by capturing and sharing engaging content related to dive trips and conservation efforts.
- Support the administrative tasks of the dive center, including scheduling, inventory management, and customer inquiries.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all guests, promoting a love for the ocean and responsible diving practices.
- Contribute to the development of new dive programs and experiences that highlight the unique underwater ecosystem of Eleuthera.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid Divemaster certification from a recognized diving organization (e.g., PADI, SSI).
- A minimum of 50 logged dives, with experience in various diving conditions preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with guests and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for marine conservation and a commitment to promoting sustainable diving practices.
- Basic knowledge of marine life and ecosystems, with a willingness to learn more.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Must be physically fit and able to handle the demands of diving and outdoor activities.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as required by the dive center's schedule.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a customer service role, particularly in the tourism or hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with underwater photography or videography techniques.
- Additional certifications in specialties such as Nitrox, Rescue Diver, or underwater naturalist.
- Experience with social media marketing or content creation.
- Knowledge of local dive sites and marine ecosystems in the Bahamas.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using diving equipment and safety gear.
- Familiarity with dive management software and tools for scheduling and logging dives.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle unexpected challenges with a positive attitude.
