Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify issues early in the development cycle and contribute to the overall improvement of our software quality. Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases based on software requirements and technical specifications.
• Perform manual and automated testing on various platforms to ensure software functionality and performance meet established standards.
• Identify, document, and track defects using industry-standard tools, ensuring timely resolution by collaborating with the development team.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to provide input on quality considerations and testing strategies.
• Conduct regression testing to verify that new code changes do not adversely affect existing functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product features and provide feedback on usability and functionality.
• Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in software testing and quality assurance to continuously enhance testing processes.
• Mentor junior QA team members and assist in their professional development by sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives, to ensure quality is prioritized throughout the development lifecycle.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation related to testing processes, methodologies, and tools used within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing.
• Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, or TestNG.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner is a plus.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools like Jenkins or CircleCI.
• Understanding of security testing principles and tools.
• Previous experience in a startup environment is advantageous.
• Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
