About the role
You will own the full diagnostic lifecycle for vehicles entering our inspection pipeline, interpreting complex data to guide repair decisions and ensure quality outcomes. The role requires you to perform a full range of automotive repairs - from light maintenance to heavy engine work - on all makes and models, including timing belts and suspension systems. You will diagnose and repair advanced vehicle electrical issues, paying special attention to evolving electric and hybrid vehicle technologies. You will complete repairs for wheel bearings and axles, as well as vehicle climate control systems such as ACs and heater cores. Every day you will utilize state-of-the-art tools in one of our high-tech Inspection Centers to execute precise and efficient fixes. You will work as a key technical contributor within a fast-paced production environment, supporting our mission to deliver great vehicles when expected. What you'll do
- Diagnose complex vehicle malfunctions using advanced testing equipment and systematic troubleshooting methods.
- Perform general to complex repairs on all makes and models, ranging from timing belts and suspension systems to heavy engine work.
- Execute precise electrical system diagnostics and repairs, including advanced vehicle electrical issues and hybrid components.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of wheel bearings and axles to verify integrity and safety compliance.
- Service vehicle climate control systems, including ACs and heater cores, to restore optimal cabin performance.
- Utilize cutting-edge diagnostic tools and calibrated equipment in high-tech Inspection Centers to maintain accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions efficiently.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols while operating heavy-duty tools and lifting equipment during repairs.
- Document all diagnostic findings and repair procedures to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Support production targets by managing workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to customer satisfaction by ensuring vehicles meet Carvana's reconditioning standards before delivery.
- Apply problem-solving skills to ambiguous technical issues that require innovative diagnostic approaches.
- Maintain tools and workspaces to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
- Assist in training and knowledge sharing when supporting less experienced technicians on complex repairs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive repair experience in a professional shop environment.
- Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools, including the capacity to lift up to 60 pounds independently.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license, with some positions subject to Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) checks.
- Demonstrated capability to perform general to complex repairs on all makes and models, including timing belts and suspension systems.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing advanced vehicle electrical systems, with familiarity with electric and hybrid vehicle technology.
- Proven history of completing repairs for wheel bearings, axles, and climate control systems such as ACs and heater cores.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing production environment while working in conditions exposed to excessive heat or cold.
- Consistent use of required safety equipment, including face shields or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, masks, and other protective garments.
- Willingness to comply with mandatory overtime requirements based on business and customer delivery needs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following standardized diagnostic and repair procedures.
- Reliable transportation and eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements.
Practical notes
This role may require mandatory overtime to ensure vehicle delivery commitments are met. Employment is contingent upon passing relevant background checks, including Motor Vehicle Records verification where applicable. The position is available in Concord, North Carolina, and follows the schedule outlined during the hiring process. Candidates must adhere to all safety and operational standards of Carvana's Inspection Centers while using company-provided high-tech tools and equipment.
