Job description
About the role
The Lead Product Manager owns platform strategy for Carta's connected private capital ecosystem, ensuring offerings remain market-leading and transformative.

Product work spans engineering, design, and business teams and ships products that solve real problems. The role combines research, writing, analysis, and decision making under uncertainty. Key facts
What you'll do
Market-leading platform offerings are shaped and iterated to solve ownership management and distribution challenges globally. Holistic solutions emerge from data flow diagrams that balance strategic vision with calculation definition details across the platform. Hypothesis validation occurs through experiments and tradeoff analysis, reducing reliance on software builds when appropriate. Intuitive solutions for managing and distributing ownership worldwide are delivered through cross-functional collaboration with designers, engineers, and business partners.
Requirements
You bring 7+ years of product management experience in high-paced, agile software development, with a track record of shipping impactful products. Several years of product experience in startups are gained within cross-functional teams that include product designers, engineers, and business partners. User problems are solved with empathy, digging deeply into what drives ownership and equity management needs. Systems thinking guides your work, using data flow diagrams to navigate complexity and design coherent platform solutions. You shift fluidly between strategic product vision and tactical execution, resolving calculation definition issues while shaping platform direction. Resource allocation decisions are made by choosing between software builds and validation experiments like fake doors. You determine when software is not the optimal path to solve ownership and equity problems.
Practical notes
Typical interview steps
Product interviews often include a product sense round, an analytical round, and a behavioral round. Candidates may be asked to design a feature, prioritize a backlog, or estimate a metric. Some loops include a case exercise. Strong candidates show structured thinking and customer empathy. Interviewers want to see how you prioritize when everything matters. Walking through your decision criteria out loud is a strong habit in product interviews.

Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
