About the role
The Corporate Counsel, Servicing and Collections will directly report to the General Counsel and function as a strategic legal partner dedicated to servicing, collections, and litigation. This position requires structured thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and a bias for action within a fast-paced fintech environment. You will own complex workflows while collaborating with Product, Finance, and Operations to shape legal strategy and drive execution. Key duties include advising cross-functionally to ensure strict compliance with state and federal regulations governing servicing and collections. This role involves drafting internal policies and monitoring evolving regulatory landscapes to maintain proactive compliance. Risk oversight is central, requiring analysis of escalations to uncover systemic patterns and drive remediation. You will manage arbitration frameworks and work with product and servicing teams to refine user journeys based on real-world operational data. Oversight of litigation and escalation management will involve optimizing triage, investigation, and resolution methodologies. You will coordinate with external counsel on contentious matters while streamlining internal forms and procedures for efficiency. A significant portion of the role focuses on third-party relationships, including vendors, debt purchasers, and other service providers. You will review service-level expectations, confirm chain-of-title integrity for debt sale initiatives, and ensure strict alignment with contractual obligations. The position holds responsibility for consumer-facing documentation, requiring you to draft and review notices, hardship programs, deferral options, and charge-off protocols. All materials must meet stringent regulatory standards to mitigate risk and ensure clarity. AI and automation will be central to your daily work, as you test and deploy AI features designed to automate legal and servicing workflows. You will create AI agents and playbooks that support scalable, efficient operations across the business.

- Partner with Finance to ensure legal strategies support business objectives while managing risk exposure effectively.
- Liaise with Operations to translate legal requirements into practical procedures that enhance user experience and compliance.
- Conduct regular reviews of contractual obligations to safeguard the company's interests in vendor and partnership agreements.
- Collaborate with Product teams to integrate legal safeguards directly into new feature development cycles.
- Provide clear, actionable guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on regulatory obligations and risk management.
Requirements
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required.
Active bar admission in New York or California is mandatory for this position.
You will bring a minimum of eight years of legal experience to the role.
Your background must include time in top-tier law firms followed by in-house work within high-growth technology or fintech organizations.
A proven track record in servicing, collections, and litigation within consumer finance is essential for success.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong business judgment.
You will possess the ability to identify legal risk and translate it into actionable solutions for non-legal stakeholders.
Experience with AI and the development of automated workflows is required to thrive in this environment.
You will be highly organized and capable of managing a high volume of matters simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy.
