Customer Support Manager
Job description
About the role
This role leads customer support operations for a scaling product team, handling technical and accounting cases. The manager owns complex issues and shapes support foundations while partnering with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success. The position suits a problem-solver who thrives in fast growth and aims toward leadership over time.
Customer success teams keep customers happy after the sale. They onboard new accounts, answer questions, and help users get value from a product. They watch usage signals and step in before customers churn. The role mixes support, training, and account management. Customer success teams are measured on retention, usage, and customer satisfaction. Most companies provide structured onboarding so new team members learn the product deeply first.
Key facts
What you'll do
Trusted customer relationships are built through thoughtful, high-quality support that addresses both stated and underlying needs. Customer health, sentiment, and recurring issues are monitored to protect retention and highlight risks early. Feedback from customers is synthesized and shared with Customer Success to enable seamless knowledge transfer and aligned responses. Bugs, workflow gaps, and product issues are reported to Product and Engineering, and you help reproduce problems to validate fixes. Support playbooks, workflows, and documentation are built and refined to streamline operations.
Requirements
You bring 3+ years of experience in accounting, audit, finance, or customer-facing SaaS roles such as Support, Implementation, CS, or Account Management. You have bonus experience with ERP platforms including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite. Strong technical aptitude allows you to learn new software platforms quickly and troubleshoot accounting data and financial workflows. You are comfortable handling system integrations and complex financial interactions. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required.
Practical notes
This role is based in London and is full_time with a customer-first mindset focused on empathy and ownership. You work independently with excellent organization and attention to detail, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Clear, thoughtful communication in writing and speaking supports collaboration across functions. Typical interview steps
Customer success interviews usually include a support scenario, a communication exercise, and behavioral questions. Candidates may be asked to handle an upset customer or plan an onboarding call. Some loops test product knowledge. Empathy and clear writing are the core skills. Interviewers often ask how you would bring an unhappy account back on track. Structure your answer around listening, a plan, and follow up.
Good to know
This role focuses on customer support operations in a SaaS-like environment. Common tools for support and documentation are used to manage workflows and knowledge. The position involves cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and success teams.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
Career growth
Customer success careers grow from specialist to manager and director levels. Some people move toward account management or solutions engineering. Deep product knowledge and cross-functional work with support, sales, and product teams become key at senior levels. Success careers reward product depth and relationship skills equally.
