AI GTM Engineer
Job description
About the role
In this position, you will architect and sustain the technical backbone that drives the company's revenue engine. The focus is on engineering automated infrastructure that empowers sales and marketing organizations to operate with maximum velocity and precision. You will serve as the critical bridge between commercial strategy and technical execution, translating high-level growth objectives into scalable, maintainable systems. This role demands a builder's mindset, requiring you to own the full lifecycle of revenue tooling from initial design through ongoing optimization. Success is measured by the reliability of data flows, the efficiency of the quote-to-cash motion, and the actionable intelligence delivered to leadership.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and govern complex workflows for lead lifecycle management, including intelligent routing logic, scoring models, and opportunity stage progression automation.
- Architect and maintain the integrations binding the revenue technology ecosystem, ensuring bidirectional data fidelity between the CRM, marketing automation platforms, billing engines, product analytics warehouses, and data enrichment vendors.
- Partner directly with VP-level stakeholders in Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to translate quarterly OKRs and annual planning targets into detailed technical specifications and phased implementation roadmaps.
- Engineer self-service business intelligence layers using tools like Looker, Tableau, or Metabase, constructing executive dashboards and real-time alerting systems that surface pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and rep productivity signals.
- Diagnose systemic friction points across the quote-to-cash process - such as manual data entry traps, territory assignment conflicts, or CPQ misconfigurations - and deploy programmatic solutions to eliminate them.
- Build and enforce a rigorous data governance framework, implementing validation rules, deduplication logic, and audit trails to guarantee the integrity of the single source of truth.
- Develop custom applications or scripts (Python, Apex, Apps Script) to extend native platform capabilities where out-of-the-box configuration falls short of complex business requirements.
- Manage the administration and security model of core platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot), including profile/permission set architecture, sandbox refresh strategies, and release management for managed packages.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to instrument product-led growth signals (PQLs, usage thresholds) into the commercial motion, ensuring seamless handoff from self-serve to sales-assisted funnels.
- Own the vendor evaluation and procurement lifecycle for new RevTech tools, running proof-of-concepts, negotiating contracts, and leading change management for rollout.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, runbooks, and training materials to democratize system knowledge and reduce bus factor across the Go-to-Market organization.
- Establish and monitor SLAs for system uptime, data freshness latency, and support ticket resolution for internal revenue stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a dedicated Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, or GTM Systems engineering capacity within a high-growth B2B SaaS or technology environment.
- Deep, certified-level proficiency with Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Flow, Apex triggers) and/or HubSpot (Workflows, Custom Objects, Operations Hub), including data modeling for complex enterprise sales motions.
- Demonstrated expertise in integration middleware (MuleSoft, Workato, Tray.io, Zapier) or custom API development (REST/GraphQL) to synchronize disparate data stores in near real-time.
- Obsessive attention to data hygiene principles; practical experience designing master data management strategies, fuzzy matching algorithms, and automated enrichment waterfalls.
- Proven ability to act as a "technical translator," distilling complex architectural trade-offs for non-technical executives while specifying precise acceptance criteria for developers.
- Strong bias for action and autonomy; comfortable navigating ambiguity, making reversible decisions quickly, and iterating in a fast-paced, pre-IPO or Series A/B stage culture.
- Track record of taking zero-to-one manual processes (e.g., spreadsheet-based forecasting, manual territory carving) and delivering fully automated, auditable, scalable system replacements.
- Working knowledge of SQL for ad-hoc analysis, data validation queries, and building source-of-truth tables in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
Nice to have
- Direct experience implementing and administering CPQ solutions (Salesforce CPQ, DealHub, PandaDoc) for complex product catalogs and usage-based pricing models.
- Familiarity with modern PLG tooling stacks (Pocus, Endgame, Calixa, Variance) and the architectural patterns for syncing product telemetry to CRM objects.
- Background in marketing operations, specifically attribution modeling (multi-touch, W-shaped), lifecycle stage definitions, and MAP/CRM sync architecture (Marketo, Braze, Iterable).
- Exposure to territory and capacity planning software (Fullcast, Varicent, Xactly) or building custom allocation algorithms in Python.
- Previous tenure at an early-stage startup (Seed to Series B) where you wore multiple hats across systems, strategy, and enablement.
- Active Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II, Application Architect, System Architect) or HubSpot RevOps certifications.
Skills & tools
- Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Flow Builder, Apex, Data Loader, Change Sets/DevOps Center)
- HubSpot (Operations Hub, Custom Objects, Workflows, API)
- Integration Platforms: Workato, Tray.io, MuleSoft, Zapier, Custom Python/Node.js APIs
- Data Warehousing: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift; SQL (CTEs, Window Functions, MERGE statements)
- Business Intelligence: Looker, Tableau, Metabase, Mode, Hex
- CPQ & Billing: Salesforce CPQ, DealHub, Stripe Billing, Zuora, NetSuite
- PLG / Reverse ETL: Census, Hightouch, Pocus, Endgame, RudderStack, Segment
- Project Management: Linear, Jira, Asana, Notion (for specs/RFCs)
- Version Control & CI/CD: Git, GitHub Actions, Gearset, Salto, sfdx-cli
- Scripting Languages: Python (pandas, requests, simple-salesforce), JavaScript/TypeScript, Apex
Practical notes
- This is a full-time, in-office role based in San Francisco; relocation assistance may be discussed for exceptional candidates but local presence is strongly preferred for collaboration density.
- Visa sponsorship availability is not explicitly stated in the source listing; candidates requiring sponsorship (H-1B, TN, O-1, STEM OPT) should clarify eligibility during initial recruiter screens.
- Compensation details (base salary, equity, variable/bonus structure, benefits) were not disclosed in the source material; expect competitive Bay Area market rates for a specialized RevTech engineering function.
- The role reports within the Sales organization but functions as a horizontal platform team, requiring high-bandwidth collaboration with Marketing, Finance, Product, and core Engineering.
- On-call rotation for critical revenue system outages (e.g., CRM downtime during quarter-end, billing sync failures) may be required given the mission-critical nature of the infrastructure.
- Interview process typically involves a recruiter screen, a technical assessment (Flow/Apex/SQL case study or system design), a cross-functional panel with RevOps stakeholders, and a final conversation with leadership.
