Principal Platform Engineer
Job description
About the role
This role drives the end-to-end delivery of a Financial Cloud platform for regulated, multi-site deployment.
Software engineers turn product ideas into working code. Engineers work in small teams, review each other's work, and ship in small batches. Most teams follow agile practices such as sprints and daily standups. Engineers also write tests, fix bugs, and improve performance. The field values clear communication as much as technical skill. Engineers spend part of every week on planning, code review, and debugging, not just writing new code. The ability to explain a technical decision in plain words separates strong engineers from the rest.
Key facts
What you'll do
A dependency graph analysis tool measures build and deploy blast radius for every change to inform release strategies.
Version Set models lock module-version combinations called Manifests, which are defined, validated, and promoted through environment stages to standardize deployment states.
Internal Developer Platform teams build self-service workflows for module onboarding, version publishing, and promotion to production Manifests.
The "Module → Manifest" pipeline is designed to deliver validated Manifest generation in thirty minutes or less to accelerate release cycles.
Compliance evidence automation generates audit trails, SBOMs, and change records for regulated deployments to meet legal requirements.
Infrastructure deployment automation achieves stage-level thresholds above ninety-five percent for Phase 1 and above ninety percent for Phase 2 and business applications for measurable stability goals.
Requirements
Candidates must bring eight or more years of platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure toolchain experience supporting five hundred services or one hundred engineers in production environments.
You have designed or operated build systems rather than only consuming them, demonstrating deep hands-on implementation capability.
A track record of building dependency graph tooling through static analysis, runtime tracing, or both supports impact analysis and selective testing for efficient workflows.
Experience designing and operating version governance systems covers BOM and Manifest models, compatibility matrices, and constraint solving for version management.
Production GitOps deployment spans multi-cluster and multi-region environments, supported by strong Kubernetes expertise with custom controllers, Operators, and CRDs for platform automation.
Artifact management and supply chain security experience includes content-addressable storage, SLSA attestation, SBOM generation, and artifact signing to ensure provenance and integrity.
Strong suitability comes from experience building Internal Developer Platforms with self-service module onboarding and promotion to enable team autonomy.
Large-scale monorepo governance addresses code ownership, visibility boundaries, and build graph optimization for efficient development at scale.
Financial or regulated industry experience includes compliance-as-code, audit automation, and multi-jurisdictional requirements to meet regulatory obligations.
Multi-site or multi-tenant SaaS platform experience covers sites with different module compositions and tenant isolation needs.
Familiarity with constraint solvers or package manager dependency resolution algorithms such as SAT solvers and version unification is expected for complex dependency management.
Cryptocurrency or fintech platform experience, especially in exchange or trading infrastructure, is strongly preferred for domain context.
Toolchain development in Rust, Go, or Python is a strong advantage for building performant and maintainable systems.
Familiarity with Terraform or Pulumi infrastructure-as-code and OPA or Rego for policy-as-code enhances platform capabilities and governance.
Experience operating platforms across China, APAC, and EU regions includes understanding data residency requirements and local compliance constraints.
Practical notes
The position is based in Kuala Lumpur with standard onsite expectations as defined by local policies.
Good to know
Platform engineering roles focus on enabling developers through internal tooling and automation.
Content-addressable storage and immutable artifacts reduce environment drift and improve auditability for compliance and debugging.
GitOps reconciles actual state with declared intent using controllers and operators to maintain desired system behavior.
Dependency graphs enable impact analysis, selective testing, and safe upgrade planning across many modules and sites.
Multi-site SaaS platforms require tenant isolation, version compatibility, and progressive delivery controls to serve diverse user needs safely.
