About the role
Bybit EU is on the lookout for a (Senior) Accountant to become a vital part of the Finance team based in Vienna. This role is essential for supporting the company's regulated operations across Europe. You will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, managing both month-end and year-end closing processes, and playing a significant role in financial and regulatory reporting. This position provides a unique opportunity to help establish scalable accounting procedures and finance controls within a rapidly growing digital asset enterprise, operating under frameworks such as MiCAR, EMI, and MiFID.

What you'll do
- Prepare and conduct thorough reviews of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Austrian GAAP (UGB).
- Oversee general ledger accounting, including account reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and the month-end closing process.
- Assist in regulatory and financial reporting for both Austrian and broader European entities.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, outsourced accounting firms, and regulatory authorities.
- Support both internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to Austrian accounting and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting controls, financial processes, and ERP workflows.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Compliance, Legal, Product, Operations, and Tax teams on various finance-related matters.
- Provide in-depth accounting analysis related to crypto assets, including safeguarding balances, payment flows, and fintech products.
- Aid in the formulation of new accounting policies, reporting requirements, and adjustments due to regulatory changes.
- Spearhead initiatives aimed at automating and improving processes within the finance department.
- Support strategic projects, licensing pursuits, and expansion efforts from an accounting perspective.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation, controls, and audit trails are maintained for key financial processes.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting, ideally within fintech, crypto, banking, financial services, payments, or an international context.
- Strong knowledge of Austrian GAAP (UGB) and financial reporting standards.
- Experience in managing audits, financial statements, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across Finance, Legal, Compliance, Product, and operational teams.
- Professional proficiency in English is mandatory.
Nice to have
- Austrian accounting qualifications, such as Bilanzbuchhalter.
- Experience with a Big 4 audit firm or within a financial institution or multinational finance department.
- Proficiency in the German language.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite.
- Background in financial services, fintech, payments, crypto, or other regulated industries.
- Experience with regulatory reporting and within regulated financial institutions.
- Understanding of accounting principles related to crypto assets and safeguarding practices.
- Involvement in finance transformation, process automation, or ERP implementation projects.
- Previous experience working with regulatory stakeholders, auditors, and compliance requirements.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Austrian GAAP (UGB).
- Expertise in financial statement preparation and review.
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, with a preference for NetSuite.
- Experience in regulatory reporting.
- Understanding of crypto asset accounting principles.
