What you'll do

• Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery on a bi-weekly basis.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws and regulations, including PAYG, superannuation, and other statutory obligations.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure that employee data is accurately reflected in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
• Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to management, providing insights into payroll expenses and trends.
• Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, providing clear and timely information to resolve issues.
• Ensure that all payroll processes adhere to internal policies and external regulations, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and data security.
• Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices, making recommendations for improvements to payroll processes.
• Work closely with the finance team to reconcile payroll accounts and assist in month-end closing activities.
• Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance your skills and knowledge in payroll management.
• Contribute to special projects related to payroll systems and technology enhancements as needed.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll accounting, preferably within an Australian context.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with experience in using platforms such as MYOB, Xero, or similar tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
• A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with HRIS systems and integration with payroll processes is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive approach to tasks.

Nice to have

• Certification in payroll management or related qualifications would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with Australian employment contracts and workplace relations legislation.
• Experience in managing payroll for a diverse workforce, including contractors and casual employees.
• Knowledge of international payroll practices, particularly in relation to expatriate employees.
