What you'll do
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of broadcast equipment, including transmitters, receivers, and studio gear.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests on broadcasting systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to provide technical support during live broadcasts, ensuring high-quality audio and video output.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time during broadcasts to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to prolong the lifespan of broadcasting equipment and reduce the likelihood of failures.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in broadcasting to recommend improvements and upgrades to existing systems.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities, creating detailed reports for future reference and compliance purposes.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
- Participate in project planning and execution for new broadcast initiatives, ensuring that all technical requirements are met.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure necessary equipment and services, negotiating contracts as needed.
- Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and other relevant industry standards, maintaining the integrity of our broadcasting operations.
- Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of technical failures or emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in broadcast engineering or a similar technical role.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast transmission systems, including analog and digital technologies.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing broadcast equipment, with hands-on experience in a live broadcast environment.
- Familiarity with FCC regulations and compliance requirements related to broadcasting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during live events.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by broadcast schedules.
- Experience with automation systems and broadcast software is a plus.
Nice to have
- Certification from the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) or similar professional organization.
- Experience with IP-based broadcasting technologies and workflows.
- Knowledge of audio and video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices in a broadcasting context.

- Proficient in the use of broadcast equipment such as cameras, microphones, and mixing consoles.
- Familiarity with signal processing and transmission technologies.
- Experience with broadcast automation systems and control room operations.
