Principal Product Manager, New Ventures
Job description
About the role
You are an AI-native product leader and builder who combines world-class product taste, deep customer empathy, and high standards with the drive to start something new at Brightwheel. You create clarity in ambiguous spaces, turn a blank page into a real business, and lead by example in how modern products get built using AI and modern tooling. You care deeply about the experience you put in front of families and educators, and you move with the urgency and ownership of a founder in every initiative you touch. You will succeed in this role if you are focused on customer and business impact, proving value for families and educators while building a business that can grow into something meaningful for Brightwheel. You are a practitioner-builder who does not lead from a distance, using AI and modern tooling in your own work to build, prototype, and learn, and to show what great looks like. You will work directly with our CEO and executive team, setting the vision and driving outcomes that are visible at the Board level for new ventures.
Key facts
What you'll do
Start and own new ventures end to end, from the first idea to product-market fit and into scale using AI and modern tooling to raise what a small, focused team can accomplish.
Discover what customers truly need by building the first version quickly and getting it in front of real people to validate assumptions and learn continuously.
Prove the business behind each bet by articulating the value to customers, the model, and the economics that make it worth growing for Brightwheel.
Build hands-on as a multidisciplinary builder, moving across product, design, engineering, and data, and using AI to go deeper in each discipline to accelerate delivery.
Work directly with our CEO and executive team to set the vision, align an executive team and board, and drive outcomes visible at the Board level for every venture.
Recruit, inspire, and grow the team around the ventures that take off, demonstrating ownership of the whole business from customer problem to path to revenue.
Use AI and modern tooling to prototype, learn, and iterate rapidly, compressing timelines and increasing the quality of decisions in ambiguous environments.
Turn a blank page into a real business by defining the idea, validating demand, and building minimum viable offerings that can be tested and refined quickly.
Carry the value, pricing, and economics that turn an idea into something worth scaling, ensuring each venture demonstrates sustainable business fundamentals.
Set a clear, compelling vision that aligns builders, stakeholders, and partners, inspiring them to move fast and own outcomes in a distributed, customer-focused environment.
Requirements
You have a record of building products customers love, with product taste and judgment to know what to build and what to leave out based on real customer empathy.
You have started or built something new from 0 to 1, ideally to real traction, and you have worn every hat as a founder or early builder in that journey.
You have owned the whole business, carrying the value, pricing, and economics that turn an idea into something worth scaling over time.
You apply AI in your own work, using AI and modern tooling to build and ship faster and to go deeper across disciplines as a multidisciplinary operator.
You communicate clearly and maintain presence, able to set a vision, align an executive team and board, and inspire the builders who join you on each venture.
You are comfortable making confident calls when there is no playbook and no data, and you follow the data the moment it exists to adjust course and validate learning.
You think like an owner of the entire business, from the customer problem to the path to revenue, and you bring an executive team and a board along with a clear, compelling narrative.
You are passionate about early education, recognizing its role as a critical support for working families and a large, underserved $175B market that technology has not yet fully served.
Nice to have
The candidates who will thrive in this role go beyond strong product management, moving as a multidisciplinary builder across product, design, engineering, and data.
You thrive in ambiguity, making confident decisions without a playbook and following the data as soon as it becomes available.
You think like an owner of the whole business, from the customer problem to the path to revenue, and you bring an executive team and a board along with a clear, compelling vision.
