Key facts
What you'll do
- Plan, conduct, and troubleshoot experiments and assays under the supervision of Senior Scientists, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility of results.
- Develop and refine molecular biology techniques, including PCR, electrophoresis, DNA purification, and other relevant protocols.
- Acquire and enhance analytical and computational skills to interpret experimental data, contributing to the validation of diagnostic assays.
- Communicate scientific findings effectively through presentations at team meetings, internal reports, and documentation of experimental procedures.
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of all experiments, procedures, and results to ensure reproducibility and compliance with laboratory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including bioinformatics, engineering, and product development, to optimize workflows and integrate experimental data into product development.
- Assist in the organization, maintenance, and cleanliness of the laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Support the development of new assays and technologies by preparing reagents, setting up experiments, and analyzing data to inform next steps.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes, protocols, and documentation practices.
- Participate in team meetings, sharing insights and progress, and providing input on experimental design and troubleshooting strategies.
- Stay current with scientific literature and emerging technologies relevant to molecular diagnostics and genomics, applying new knowledge to ongoing projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioengineering, Molecular and Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- 1 to 2 years of research experience, either through academic projects, internships, or post-graduate employment.
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, electrophoresis, DNA purification, and quantification methods.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand complex mathematical, analytical, and experimental concepts.
- Strong mathematical and statistical skills to analyze experimental data accurately.
- High attention to detail in experimental execution, data recording, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document procedures and present findings clearly.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices.
- Willingness to work on-site in Menlo Park, CA, and adhere to company policies and safety standards.
