Position Overview and Impact
The Risk Data Analyst, Staff level position owns the full lifecycle of risk data workflows. This role manages intake, modeling, analysis, and delivery to support safer payment decisions. You will transform complex information into practical guidance for internal and external partners. The work directly strengthens BILL's risk operations and protects the integrity of its platform. Success means reliable insights that drive measurable value for the company and its customers.
Primary Responsibilities
You will design intake mechanisms that standardize risk events and produce reliable data sets. These pipelines feed structured information into downstream analytics and monitoring systems. Using dbt and SQL, you will construct models that power risk analytics and fraud detection capabilities. You will validate metric definitions with Risk Operations to confirm accuracy and consistency across datasets.
The role requires building Tableau dashboards that highlight fraud patterns and suspicious behaviors. These tools must support rapid review and timely decision-making by stakeholders. You will translate business questions into structured analysis plans that clarify risk trends and emerging priorities. Clear data storytelling will explain risk behavior to executives, leaders, and external collaborators. Maintaining data quality across systems ensures that insights remain trustworthy and actionable over time.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Math, Statistics, or Economics is required. Candidates need either eight years of hands-on analytics experience or five or more years with a Master's Degree and a strong modeling background. Advanced SQL skills are essential, including proven work building and optimizing dbt pipelines in production environments.
Fluency in business intelligence tools is required, with a focus on dashboard and report creation using Tableau. Demonstrated ability to convert complex data sets into clear narratives for leaders is a core requirement. Direct experience with fraud or risk platforms, such as DataVisor, is expected. Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce or Zendesk is also necessary.
Compensation and Eligibility
Compensation for this role ranges from $159,200 to $191,052 USD. The specific range depends on location within designated zones. Zone 1 includes the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, Seattle, and Los Angeles County. Zone 2 covers other regions within California. Zone 3 applies to certain remote locations. These figures reflect total direct compensation and do not include additional benefits.
