What you'll do
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and analyze geotechnical aspects of civil engineering projects, including foundations, earthworks, and slope stability.
- Conduct site investigations and geotechnical assessments to gather essential data for project planning and design.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for construction methods and materials based on analysis results.
- Utilize advanced software tools for modeling and analysis, ensuring accurate predictions of soil behavior under various conditions.
- Review and interpret laboratory test results, integrating findings into project designs and recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Participate in fieldwork, including site inspections and monitoring, to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in civil and geotechnical engineering.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies within the organization.
- Support project management activities, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, to ensure timely project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in civil and geotechnical engineering.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software, such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, and earth retention systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in civil engineering.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being capable of working independently.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Experience with environmental assessments and remediation projects.
- Knowledge of construction management practices and principles.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software.
- Previous experience in a consulting engineering environment.
