What you'll do
- Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and project timelines.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record, providing technical oversight and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Conduct thorough site investigations and assessments to evaluate soil and rock properties, groundwater conditions, and other geotechnical factors.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and environmental engineers, to integrate geotechnical considerations into overall project designs.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the team.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and expectations, providing expert advice and solutions tailored to their specific projects.
- Review and approve design calculations, plans, and specifications prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and adherence to best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to enhance the firm's geotechnical capabilities.
- Participate in project meetings and presentations, effectively communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in client presentations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Nevada or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical design principles, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software tools such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound engineering decisions based on data and experience.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing geotechnical engineering practices.
