About the role
You will define and drive the technical hiring strategy for the Murdock in-cockpit AI assistant, owning end-to-end execution for roles that directly shape this mission-critical product. The position focuses on sourcing and assessing engineers who thrive in real-time, safety-critical, and product-focused environments, especially in iOS, machine learning, robotics, and autonomy-leaning domains. You will act as a strategic partner to engineering leadership, using sound judgement and meticulous attention to detail to guide complex hiring decisions. This role demands comfort with ownership of outcomes and the ability to operate without silos in a fast-moving team. You will build intentional pipelines of exceptional candidates while establishing repeatable processes that keep the system fair, efficient, and effective. Your work will directly influence the quality and growth of one of Beacon's key product areas by securing talent that can deliver mission-critical systems. You will represent Beacon honestly and compellingly to candidates, helping close exceptional talent in a competitive market.

What you'll do
- Own technical hiring strategy and execution for Murdock-related engineering roles, with a strong preference for candidates who have recruited in robotics, aerospace, or defense environments.
- Partner closely with engineering leaders to refine role requirements, calibrate on candidates, and align on hiring decisions.
- Source, screen, and assess candidates; team building is one of the most important areas of work at Beacon, so building an intentional pipeline of exceptional candidates will be key.
- Synthesize interview feedback and make clear hiring recommendations; establish clear and repeatable structures, expectations, and processes to keep the system fair, efficient, and effective.
- Partner closely with recruiting operations to optimize workflows, pipelines, and candidate experiences.
- Represent Beacon honestly and compellingly to candidates, and help close exceptional talent in this competitive hiring market.
- Drive interview scheduling and coordinate feedback collection to maintain momentum in high-stakes, safety-critical hiring scenarios.
- Evaluate candidate fit against rigorous technical standards while balancing speed and quality in a fast-moving environment.
- Track hiring metrics and outcomes to identify trends, improve sourcing channels, and strengthen long-term team composition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to anticipate hiring needs and align talent strategy with product and operational goals.
- Contribute to the development of interview frameworks and assessment tools that reflect the unique demands of aviation and mission-critical software roles.
Requirements
- 4+ years of technical recruiting experience, ideally in early-stage or fast-growing startups.
- Previous experience recruiting iOS, robotics, autonomy, embedded, or other safety-critical technical profiles.
- Demonstrated ability to source and evaluate high-quality technical candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter and other sourcing platforms.
- Strong track record of hiring technical talent across a range of experience levels.
- Experience recruiting for product engineering roles where reliability, ownership, and product judgement matter.
- Strong relationship-building skills, good judgment, comfort with pushing back, and the ability to earn trust and influence senior stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Green Card holder, lawful permanent resident, or individual granted asylum or refugee status due to U.S. export control regulations.
- Must be able to perform all work within the United States, with no ability to sponsor visas or support visa transfers.

- Proven success as a founding or early technical recruiting hire.
- Hands-on experience using Ashby, our ATS.
- Interest in aviation or mission-critical software systems.

Work Location
This is a hybrid role based in San Carlos, CA, with 3+ days per week onsite and the option to work remotely on remaining days.
