Deployment Engineer

About the role

Base is on a mission to revolutionize the electrical grid through a distributed battery network. As a Deployment Engineer, you will oversee the entire operational lifecycle of our utility partnerships, beginning with contract initiation and extending to the point where we secure Permission to Operate. Your role is crucial in ensuring that our deployment processes are efficient and effective, enabling us to meet our ambitious goals.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement internal systems and workflows to effectively manage the deployment of thousands of battery units across various locations.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for utility partners, addressing inquiries related to interconnection, site inspections, and integration specifications.
• Design and establish data collection methodologies that will support continuous improvement in deployment processes.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to ensure that projects remain on track and progress smoothly.
• Automate various pipeline processes to facilitate the scaling of new partnerships and enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with marketing and business operations teams to streamline deployment efforts and improve overall effectiveness.
• Oversee the integrity of CRM data and keep a close watch on the status of active deal queues to ensure timely follow-ups.
• Coordinate field team activities with partner schedules to achieve installation milestones and meet project deadlines.
• Conduct feasibility studies for battery deployments in new utility service areas, assessing potential challenges and opportunities.
• Work closely with utility representatives to establish and define operational standards that align with industry regulations and best practices.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in program management, operations, or partnership roles that involve collaboration across various functional teams.
• Hands-on experience with electromechanical or mechanical systems, demonstrating a solid understanding of their operational intricacies.
• Proven track record of managing external relationships effectively and navigating process challenges to facilitate smoother operations.
• Experience in developing procedures tailored for manufacturing or field-based environments, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Strong proficiency in managing and maintaining CRM systems, utilizing them as a central repository for project information.
• Exceptional organizational skills, with the capability to manage multiple projects and deals simultaneously without compromising quality.
• A degree in industrial, electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates relevant expertise.

Nice to have

• Experience in field services, energy, construction, or utility operations, providing a well-rounded perspective on industry practices.
• Knowledge of both regulated and deregulated energy markets, along with an understanding of interconnection agreements and their implications.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies that can enhance deployment efficiency and team collaboration.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in CRM management to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project statuses.
• Experience with process automation tools to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical systems, enabling effective communication with technical teams and partners.
• Understanding of interconnection processes and utility regulatory operations to navigate compliance effectively.
