What you'll do

• Prepare and maintain detailed cost estimates for new products and projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company goals.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and variances to identify trends and provide actionable insights to management.
• Develop and implement cost control measures to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with the production team to assess cost implications of changes in manufacturing processes or materials.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and present findings to senior management, highlighting key metrics and performance indicators.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Conduct regular audits of inventory and work in progress to ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
• Support the finance team in month-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations related to cost accounting.
• Work closely with the procurement department to analyze supplier costs and negotiate favorable terms.
• Mentor and train junior accounting staff on cost accounting principles and practices.
• Participate in cross-functional projects to improve financial processes and systems.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in cost accounting and financial management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting or a similar financial role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices, including standard costing and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP or similar platforms is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create complex financial models and perform data analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards relevant to the manufacturing industry.

Nice to have

• Professional certification such as CMA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in robotics or technology sectors is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
• Previous experience with financial forecasting and strategic planning.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a plus.
