About the role

AutoScout24 is looking for an engineer to join the Employee Tech organization in Munich. You will manage and develop the secure office infrastructure that supports our teams across Europe and Canada. In this capacity, you will act as a key technical owner for the end-user workplace ecosystem, ensuring high availability and security of network and communication services. You will collaborate closely with security, facilities, and HR stakeholders to align infrastructure initiatives with business objectives and operational needs. The position requires a proactive mindset to identify potential risks and implement preventative measures before they impact users. You will be responsible for driving both strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the office network environment. Your work will directly impact the employee experience by enabling seamless connectivity and productive work environments across continental offices.

What you'll do

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of office network infrastructure, including the deployment, monitoring, and optimization of WiFi, routing, switching, and WAN connectivity.
• Architect and manage a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) framework in close partnership with security and internal teams to ensure robust access controls.
• Administer and sustain a modern workplace services portfolio, encompassing integrated meeting room technology, flexible event spaces, and managed print environments.
• Execute advanced troubleshooting for intricate network access, VPN, and routing anomalies, utilizing rigorous root cause analysis to restore service efficiently.
• Spearhead infrastructure projects for office openings, relocations, and refurbishments, coordinating closely with Internet Service Providers and overseeing physical cabling installations.
• Author and maintain precise operational documentation, detailed runbooks, and scalable infrastructure standards to ensure consistency and knowledge transfer.
• Leverage automation and artificial intelligence tools to optimize repetitive infrastructure tasks, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual error.
• Implement and maintain certificate-based network authentication using the 802.1X standard to strengthen endpoint security and access management.
• Monitor network performance metrics and security alerts to ensure service levels are met and potential threats are identified early.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design network solutions that support hybrid work models and secure connectivity for remote offices.
• Conduct regular audits of firewall rules, NAT configurations, and network segmentation policies to maintain a strong security posture.
• Serve as a technical liaison for hardware vendors and service providers to resolve procurement, deployment, and support issues.

Requirements

• Possess professional experience as a Network, Systems, or Infrastructure Engineer within a complex enterprise environment.
• Demonstrate practical knowledge of enterprise networking fundamentals, including VLANs, DNS, DHCP, switching, and WiFi protocols and management.
• Show proven experience managing Cisco Meraki and Fortinet platforms, including configuration and best practice implementation.
• Exhibit proficiency in firewall management, with a focus on IPSec tunnels, NAT implementations, and network segmentation strategies.
• Display the ability to travel to various European office locations and potentially to Canada for project work and infrastructure assessments.
• Communicate fluently in English, both in written documentation and verbal discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Be based in Munich or demonstrate a clear willingness to relocate to the area to ensure successful integration into the team.
• Maintain a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic tech organization.
• Uphold a high level of professionalism and ownership in all interactions with internal teams and external partners.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Fortinet ZTNA or other Zero Trust Network Access solutions to enhance secure access frameworks.
• Familiarity with Neat collaboration hardware, including configuration and integration with workplace meeting systems.
• Practical experience with Canon and uniFLOW Online print services, including driver deployment, quota management, and supply coordination.
• Background in infrastructure-as-code methodologies, monitoring platforms, and automation tools to improve operational scalability.
• Active German language skills that can facilitate communication with local stakeholders and simplify on-site interactions.

Practical notes

• The role requires occasional travel to international office locations to support deployment, maintenance, and project activities.
• German language skills are considered an advantage but are not mandatory for successful performance in this position.
