Senior Platform Engineer
Job description
About the role
This role is built for someone who thrives on shaping technology that directly empowers other engineers. You will own the design, operation, and continuous improvement of the internal platform that hundreds of developers depend on every day. This includes the foundational tools for Kubernetes, managed CI/CD, project templates, and the entire suite of developer tooling running on AWS. You will be at the forefront of making developers significantly more productive by architecting and driving the adoption of secure AI-assisted development capabilities. Your work will directly influence how quickly and safely new features are delivered across the organization. You will partner closely with product and engineering teams to turn complex platform challenges into elegant, self-service solutions. Ultimately, you will own the narrative of how technology accelerates our ability to move fast and serve our customers better.
Key facts
What you'll do
Design, build, and operate the core components of our internal AI platform, including secure environments for AI coding tools, AI-enhanced CI/CD pipelines, and scalable agentic workflows on AWS.
Own specific platform products end to end, applying a product mindset to developer-focused tools, shaping roadmaps, and ensuring a smooth and delightful experience for our internal customers.
Investigate and eliminate friction in the developer workflow by identifying pain points, proposing solutions, and validating impact through adoption metrics and feedback.
Plan and execute complex platform initiatives independently, coordinating with stakeholders, defining technical scope, and driving projects from conception to production.
Establish and enforce best practices for building with AI, creating reliable templates, blueprints, and reusable components that raise the entire team's capabilities.
Define and influence the architectural direction of our platform foundations, including Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD systems, and Infrastructure as Code patterns on AWS.
Act as a production expert for the platform, participating in on-call rotations, troubleshooting critical incidents, and ensuring reliability, security, and cost-efficiency.
Capture and document patterns, processes, and knowledge to create scalable solutions that allow the organization to operate at high velocity with reduced risk.
Champion the adoption of modern AI coding tools like Claude and Codex, integrating them into daily workflows to maximize developer productivity.
Engage in technical discussions to evaluate and recommend technology choices, ensuring that platform decisions are well-founded and aligned with long-term goals.
Contribute to a culture of quality by promoting strong engineering practices in testing, debugging, code review, and operational observability.
Collaborate closely with SRE, DevOps, and application teams to ensure the platform meets evolving needs and remains a strategic asset.
Continuously measure the success of platform features, using data and user feedback to iterate and improve the developer experience.
Mentor and enable other engineers by sharing expertise, creating documentation, and demonstrating effective use of platform capabilities.
Requirements
Bring a strong background in building and operating infrastructure or platform products, typically reflected in five or more years of relevant experience.
Demonstrate hands-on experience with Generative AI, having built real-world applications using LLM APIs, tool and function calling, retrieval systems, and agent frameworks.
Show that modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex are integrated into your daily development process.
Possess solid fundamentals in AWS and a deep appreciation for Infrastructure as Code and Pipeline as Code methodologies.
Have a proven track record of improving developer experience by understanding real-world workflows and removing genuine barriers to productivity.
Communicate effectively and collaborate well with others, able to articulate technical concepts clearly and drive discussions across diverse teams.
Maintain strong engineering fundamentals, including a disciplined approach to testing, debugging, code quality, and readiness for production deployment.
Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps principles, observability practices, and a mindset for reliability and performance optimization.
Nice to have
Experience contributing to open source projects relevant to platform engineering or developer tooling.
A background in automotive or mobility domains, reflecting an understanding of regulated environments and safety-critical systems.
