Senior Software Engineer, Sales Mode
Job description
About the role
This role strengthens the solar sales platform and greenfield initiatives for a distributed team based in Warsaw. It targets experienced engineers who shape systems that enable clear homeowner-first proposals and smooth financial integrations. The role is hybrid, with consistent contribution expected from Warsaw.
Software engineers turn product ideas into working code. Engineers work in small teams, review each other's work, and ship in small batches. Most teams follow agile practices such as sprints and daily standups. Engineers also write tests, fix bugs, and improve performance. The field values clear communication as much as technical skill. Engineers spend part of every week on planning, code review, and debugging, not just writing new code. The ability to explain a technical decision in plain words separates strong engineers from the rest.
Key facts
What you'll do
New functionality is built for the solar design and sales platform used by solar professionals and homeowners. Financial and sales partners connect through APIs designed and maintained to support proposal experiences. Scalable, secure services are developed for long-term performance across distributed workflows. Agile processes are strengthened to enable predictable, high-impact sprint delivery for sales flows. Shared learning elevates engineering culture and ownership through teambuilding. Services built are owned and operated by the team, including participation in on-call rotation to support operational excellence.
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer is required for this role. Proficiency in Ruby on Rails is required to build and maintain backend services. Clear communication is required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with React and component-based front-end development is required for UI implementation. Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript is required for client-side logic. The ability to thrive on a fully distributed team in a hybrid environment is required for consistent delivery. Proficient use of written and spoken English is required, with submissions in English.
Nice to have
Experience with GraphQL is a nice addition for integrating data workflows. Passion for renewable energy and climate tech helps align solutions with the mission.
Practical notes
This position is based in Warsaw and follows a hybrid model for the Sales Mode team. US citizenship, national status, or permanent residency is required for visa sponsorship considerations. Typical interview steps
Hiring for engineering roles usually starts with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops include a take-home task. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation.
Good to know
The role centers on software that enables solar professionals to design and sell residential and commercial systems. Engineers work with data, financial integrations, and APIs that connect to sales partners. The team uses iterative development to refine user flows for homeowners and sales teams. Focus on scalability and operational ownership supports long-term platform reliability. The environment emphasizes inclusive collaboration across a fully distributed workforce.
Career growth
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets.
