What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental compliance programs that align with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that all company operations meet legal requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of company facilities and operations to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental compliance into business processes and decision-making.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Lead training sessions for employees on environmental compliance policies, procedures, and best practices to promote awareness and accountability.
- Monitor changes in environmental legislation and regulations, advising management on necessary adjustments to company policies and practices.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of environmental compliance documentation, including permits, reports, and correspondence with regulatory agencies.
- Engage with stakeholders, including community members and environmental organizations, to promote transparency and foster positive relationships.
- Analyze environmental data and trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making related to sustainability initiatives.
- Assist in the development of corporate sustainability goals and objectives, tracking progress and reporting outcomes to senior management.
- Participate in industry forums and conferences to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in environmental compliance and sustainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance or a related role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
- Proven experience conducting environmental audits and assessments, with a strong ability to identify compliance issues and develop actionable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to managing compliance documentation and reporting.
- Proficient in using environmental management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, or a related field.
- Certification as a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar credential.
- Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, CDP, or ISO 14001.
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and life cycle analysis.
- Previous experience in stakeholder engagement and community outreach related to environmental issues.
