What you'll do
- Process payroll for a variety of clients, ensuring accuracy in calculations and adherence to deadlines.
- Review and verify timekeeping records to ensure that all hours worked are accurately captured and reported.
- Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and management, providing timely and effective resolutions.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings and reporting requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll reports and summaries for management review, ensuring that all data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure that employee records are maintained accurately, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
- Support the implementation of payroll software updates and enhancements, contributing to process improvements.
- Participate in audits and assist with the preparation of documentation required for internal and external reviews.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation and best practices, ensuring that the company remains compliant.
- Assist in training new team members on payroll processes and systems, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned, which may include system upgrades or process optimization initiatives.

Requirements
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related field.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with employees and management.
Nice to have
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of HR processes and systems, providing a holistic understanding of employee management.
- Certification in payroll processing, such as CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification).
- Familiarity with benefits administration and related payroll deductions.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume payroll environment.
