Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including user manuals, installation guides, and API documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and insights necessary for creating accurate and detailed technical content.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to understand complex processes and translate them into clear, concise documentation.
- Create and update online help systems and user guides, ensuring they are user-friendly and accessible.
- Implement feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve documentation quality and usability.
- Utilize various tools and software for documentation creation, including Markdown, Confluence, and Adobe FrameMaker.
- Organize and manage documentation projects, ensuring all materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and documentation, applying this knowledge to enhance our documentation processes.
- Assist in the development of training materials and presentations to support product launches and updates.
- Participate in usability testing to gather insights on documentation effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to company branding and style guidelines.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the documentation team and across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing or a similar role, preferably in the software industry.
- Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, or similar software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative documentation practices.
- Experience creating content for diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical users.
- Strong analytical skills to assess user needs and adapt documentation accordingly.
Nice to have
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and working in an Agile environment.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic programming concepts to enhance documentation.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools to create visuals and diagrams that complement written content.
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.
- Understanding of localization and internationalization practices in documentation.
