About the role
Asana is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead the charge in redefining how work gets done in the era of intelligent agents. You will own the strategic vision and execution roadmap for agentic work management capabilities embedded in the Asana Work Management Platform. This role requires you to architect systems where AI teammates can independently plan, delegate, and execute tasks in collaboration with human users. You will be the central orchestrator ensuring that complex workflows involving multiple agents and human approvals function seamlessly. The position demands a balance of deep technical acumen and high-level stakeholder communication to translate ambitious product visions into reality. You will drive the development of core infrastructure that supports dynamic task delegation and real-time multi-agent coordination. Success in this role will be measured by your ability to deliver reliable, scalable systems that enhance human productivity through intelligent automation.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the end-to-end execution of programs focused on agentic work, including task delegation, multi-agent orchestration, and human-in-the-loop review processes.
- Develop and maintain detailed engineering delivery schedules, timelines, and dependency maps to ensure team accountability and on-time delivery.
- Oversee program governance by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while managing resources and providing clear, concise status updates to executive stakeholders.
- Improve operational efficiency by systematically identifying and removing process bottlenecks that impede the development and deployment of agentic features.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with R&D, Product, Design, Research, and Business teams to align priorities and ensure successful, high-quality project outcomes.
- Define and track key performance indicators and success metrics to measure the impact of agentic work management features on user productivity.
- Partner with product leadership to scope and prioritize features, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with long-term platform strategy.
- Facilitate technical design discussions and translate complex system architectures into understandable plans for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Leverage data analytics and AI-driven tools to inform decision-making, validate hypotheses, and optimize the performance of managed workflows.
- Navigate high levels of ambiguity by breaking down complex problems and maintaining steady momentum in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Requirements
- Possess 8+ years of experience leading technical programs within B2B SaaS or enterprise software environments, demonstrating a proven track record of delivery.
- Show a demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Exhibit strong technical fluency, allowing you to simplify intricate concepts and communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and business leaders.
- Have direct experience utilizing data analytics and AI-driven tools to inform strategic decisions and measure program success.
- Display the ability to navigate significant ambiguity and maintain consistent momentum when facing fast-paced, evolving project requirements.
- Hold strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to articulate plans, provide updates, and negotiate priorities clearly.
- Demonstrate robust problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset to identify issues early and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Must be comfortable working within a distributed team structure and collaborating effectively in a hybrid work model that includes scheduled in-office days.
