We are currently seeking a Senior AI Engineer for our Technology Trending Solutions mission. This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of mission-critical AI and analytics solutions, operating within a highly structured governance framework. The position demands leadership in both design and deployment, ensuring all components meet stringent compliance and audit standards.
The successful candidate will use external AI capabilities by integrating APIs such as OpenAI and AWS Bedrock. You will construct user-centric interfaces utilizing modern web technologies, including EX, AWS Amplify, and React. A core responsibility involves configuring and managing complex analytic environments and cloud-native infrastructure, specifically GMLearn, Container Yard, AWS SageMaker, and AWS EKS. Effective agile delivery is essential, requiring proficiency in Scrum or Kanban methodologies and fluency with tools like Jira and Confluence.
A key focus of this role is establishing robust model and code management. You will employ modern version control systems and platforms, including Git, GitLab, Hugging Face, and Bailo. The position requires a proven ability to guide AI initiatives from initial concept through governed production deployment, particularly within sensitive, mission-focused settings.
This position is located in Fort Meade, Maryland, and is a full-time engagement.
What you'll do
- Architect analytic services that prioritize clear user interaction, utilizing EX, AWS Amplify, and React.
- Form secure integration patterns with large language model providers like OpenAI and AWS Bedrock.
- Set up and maintain execution environments such as GMLearn, Container Yard, AWS SageMaker, and AWS EKS.
- Orchestrate workflows using Jira and Confluence to provide engineering teams with clear oversight.
- Implement version control strategies involving Git, GitLab, Hugging Face, and Bailo to protect model integrity.
- Define and enforce governance practices aligned with frameworks such as AVG and AAA to ensure models remain auditable.
- Collaborate with partner teams to ensure that technology trends remain synchronized with agency mission objectives.
- Deploy models via pipelines that emphasize traceability and controlled progression to production.
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable development tasks for the team.
- Conduct thorough validations of deployed solutions to confirm they meet strict compliance standards.
- Optimize system performance and reliability within container-based and cloud-native infrastructures.
- Mentor junior engineers on best practices for secure and compliant AI development.
- Monitor evolving technology trends to identify opportunities for innovation within government contexts.
- Document all processes and configurations to support audit requirements and knowledge transfer.
- Lead incident response efforts for AI and analytics platform disruptions.
Requirements
- Possess 365-366 years of experience in building analytic solutions specifically for government contexts.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency with contemporary version control and model management tools.
- Operate effectively in regulated environments where compliance and auditability are non-negotiable.
- Maintain a deep understanding of container-based platforms and cloud-native services essential for model delivery.
- Exhibit clear communication skills necessary for interacting with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience working within structured delivery frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban is mandatory.
- Show a proven track record of guiding AI initiatives from initial concept through governed production deployment.
