Internal Tools Developer

About the role

The Internal Tools Developer at Arch owns the end to end lifecycle of internal platforms that power our global Operations team. You will design and build new features for internal, employee used web platforms that directly improve how our teams work each day. You will automate the acquisition and extraction of financial data from many disparate sources, turning messy inputs into reliable workflows. You will review automation outputs to ensure quality and correctness before information reaches our clients and stakeholders. You will build and maintain internal tools for Arch's Operations team, focusing on clarity, scalability, and day to day usability. You will oversee execution and maintenance of a suite of scripts and other internal tooling used to support core business functions across the firm. You will assist with debugging, investigation, and troubleshooting errors to keep our internal systems stable and trustworthy.

What you'll do

• Develop new features for internal, employee used web platforms that streamline operational workflows.
• Automate the acquisition and extraction of financial data from many sources, standardizing inputs for downstream use.
• Review automation outputs ensuring quality and correctness of data and reports.
• Build and maintain internal tools for Arch's Operations team, focusing on reliability and ease of use.
• Oversee execution and maintenance of a suite of scripts and other internal tooling used to support core business functions.
• Assist with debugging, investigation, and troubleshooting errors across internal tools and data pipelines.
• Partner closely with cross functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code that can be understood and extended by other engineers on the team.
• Document processes and system behavior to support long term maintenance and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to a positive engineering culture by sharing learnings and improving code review practices.
• Participate in on call responsibilities as needed to address operational issues and support requests.
• Collaborate with product and operations stakeholders to prioritize work and align with business goals.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and reliability improvements.
• Support the rollout of new tools and features through testing, feedback, and iterative improvements.
• Act as a technical liaison between engineering and operations to ensure smooth execution of workflows.

Requirements

• Love organizing a bit of chaos and bringing structure to complex operational problems.
• Are proficient in JavaScript or another mainstream programming language, with a strong grasp of core concepts.
• Know SQL and are comfortable writing queries to explore, transform, and validate data.
• Are a quick learner who enjoys partnering with others and solving difficult problems in ambiguous environments.
• Are interested in alternative investments and or financial services, which helps contextualize the problems you solve.
• Communicate well and professionally in both written and verbal formats, with attention to clarity and precision.
• Are able to work full time from our New York City office, demonstrating commitment to onsite collaboration.
• Thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly and adaptability is essential.
• Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments to ensure reliable delivery of internal tools.
• Are comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with cross functional teammates.
• Have a strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy, testing, and quality in all deliverables.
• Are willing to learn new technologies, frameworks, and processes as the needs of the business evolve.
• Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in interactions with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.

Nice to have

• Have web development experience with HTML/CSS and React.
• Enjoy writing code to process and understand data, especially financial or structured datasets.
• Are familiar with the terms capital calls, IRRs, recallable distributions, or K-1s.
• Have taken finance or accounting courses that provide a foundation for understanding financial statements and metrics.

Practical notes

• This role is based onsite at our New York City office, where collaboration happens in person on a daily basis.
• For select roles, we are also open to candidates based in Boston. If a role is open to Boston, it will be listed explicitly in the job location.
