About the role
You will lead and grow a high-performing engineering team while helping build Arch's core platform and new offerings. This role sits at the intersection of people leadership and technical execution, directly shaping engineering culture, team velocity, and the technology that powers our clients' investment experience. You will mentor engineers, drive technical decisions, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful financial technology solutions. Your ownership will include automating complex operational processes and removing blockers across the product lifecycle. You will translate business needs into engineering priorities while maintaining a strong focus on code quality and system reliability. Through clear communication and hands-on guidance, you will represent your team's work to leadership and ensure alignment with company objectives.

- Identify and prioritize infrastructure and process improvements that increase team velocity, reduce friction, and enhance engineering quality.
- Engage in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical trade-offs to ensure robust, scalable solutions across the technology stack.
- Translate technical concepts into clear narratives for business stakeholders and align engineering work with client needs and regulatory expectations.
- Represent the engineering team in cross-functional meetings, providing updates on progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Build strong relationships with product managers, designers, and data analysts to create cohesive product experiences.
- Contribute to hiring decisions by defining role requirements, conducting interviews, and evaluating candidates against team needs.
- Establish and refine engineering processes, including sprint planning, on-call rotations, incident response, and developer productivity initiatives.
- Monitor system performance and reliability, working closely with engineering and operations to resolve issues and improve resilience.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team to elevate overall engineering capabilities.
- Track project milestones and communicate status updates to ensure visibility for stakeholders and leadership.
- Support the creation of documentation and standards that enable long-term maintainability and scalability.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years managing and growing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- A track record of building high-performing teams, including hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers who deliver results.
- Strong technical foundations that enable meaningful participation in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical trade-offs.
- Experience partnering with product and design teams to scope, prioritize, and deliver complex projects on schedule without compromising quality.
- Excellent communication skills to translate between technical and business contexts and represent the team's work to leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-growth fintech environment where priorities evolve quickly.
- Willingness to work onsite in New York City, embracing in-person collaboration that drives speed and team cohesion.
- Comfort engaging with stakeholders at multiple levels, from individual contributors to executive leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience in the fintech space or working on investment platforms that manage alternative assets like venture capital, hedge funds, and private equity.
- Prior experience scaling an engineering team through rapid growth at a startup or high-growth company.

Most of our full-time roles are based onsite at our New York City office, where our team thrives on in-person collaboration and dynamic teamwork. Being onsite daily enables us to build strong connections, move quickly, and deliver exceptional service to our clients. For select roles, we are also open to candidates based in Boston. This role requires onsite presence in the listed location.
