Group Manager, Strategic Sourcing

About the role

Apex Technology is experiencing significant growth in the production of satellite buses to cater to the increasing demand for commercial spacecraft. We are in search of a dynamic leader to oversee our procurement division and lead a team of global supply managers. This position is located at our manufacturing facility in Los Angeles and requires an active, hands-on approach to ensure our supply chain effectively supports our production objectives.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop a team of global supply managers responsible for both direct and indirect materials procurement.
• Formulate and implement procurement strategies that align with our production scaling efforts and the introduction of new products.
• Cultivate and manage supplier relationships to enhance cost efficiency, delivery timelines, and risk management practices.
• Collaborate with inventory and planning teams to ensure a seamless flow of materials throughout the production process.
• Conduct sourcing activities, including issuing Requests for Quotations (RFQs), negotiating contracts, and establishing long-term agreements with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions to address any quality or service-related issues that arise.
• Partner with engineering and quality assurance teams to evaluate and approve new suppliers and materials for use in production.
• Ensure that our supply base is equipped to handle increasing production demands effectively.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high standards of quality and adherence to schedules.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including ITAR and FAR, throughout the procurement process.
• Provide regular updates on procurement key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership and work on enhancing the integrity of ERP data.

Requirements

• Candidates must be a U.S. Person (either a citizen or a permanent resident) to comply with ITAR regulations.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role within the supply chain or procurement sector is essential.
• A Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain management, or a related field is necessary, or equivalent professional experience.
• Previous experience in the aerospace or automotive industries is preferred.
• A proven track record of supporting production ramp-ups and launching new products is essential.
• Familiarity with MRP and ERP systems is a must.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in managing other managers or team leaders is a plus.
• Familiarity with advanced procurement methodologies and practices.
• Exposure to international sourcing and global supply chain management.
