What you'll do

Lead the accounts payable team in processing and managing all vendor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
Develop and implement efficient accounts payable processes and workflows to enhance productivity and reduce errors.
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure that all invoices are properly coded and approved.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors to facilitate smooth communication and prompt resolution of payment issues.
Monitor and analyze accounts payable metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations related to accounts payable and financial reporting.
Prepare and present regular reports on accounts payable activities to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts by providing insights into accounts payable trends and projections.
Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Participate in audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing any inquiries related to accounts payable processes.
Implement and maintain a robust system for tracking and managing vendor contracts and agreements.
Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations that may impact accounts payable operations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar financial role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software used at Anchorqea] is a plus.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in process improvement and implementing best practices in accounts payable operations.

Nice to have

Certification in accounts payable or related financial certifications (e.g., AP certification, CPA).
Familiarity with project-based accounting, particularly in the environmental consulting sector.
Experience in a mid-sized to large organization, particularly in the engineering or environmental services industry.

Skills & tools

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
Familiarity with document management systems and electronic invoicing platforms.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.

Practical notes

This position is based in Seattle, Washington, and may require occasional travel for vendor meetings or training sessions.
The successful candidate will be expected to work standard business hours, with flexibility for overtime during peak periods.
