Anaplan is seeking a dedicated and experienced AI Engineering Manager to take a leading role in the development and enhancement of our Enterprise Grade AI Platform. This position involves managing a talented team of AI engineers, guiding technical strategies, and actively participating in the design and implementation of conversational AI and generative AI solutions. What you'll do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5-8 AI engineers, promoting a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
• Oversee the end-to-end development of conversational AI features that enable natural language interaction with Anaplan models, ensuring these features are , scalable, and user-friendly.
• Manage the creation and deployment of autonomous AI systems capable of analyzing large datasets, generating actionable insights, and executing planning workflows independently, thereby improving automation and decision-making processes.
• Take ownership of the team's delivery roadmap, collaborating with product management and stakeholders to prioritize features, set realistic timelines, and navigate technical trade-offs effectively.
• Establish and enforce best practices for AI development, including rigorous testing strategies, evaluation frameworks, and deployment methodologies to ensure high quality and reliability of AI solutions.
• Lead sprint planning, technical design reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring the team maintains a steady pace of delivery while adhering to quality standards.
• Work closely with AI Solutions Architects to translate architectural visions into detailed engineering plans, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with business goals.
• Develop, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for AI applications, incorporating automated testing, regression testing, and monitoring to facilitate rapid and reliable releases.
• Collaborate with platform teams to ensure integration of AI features with Anaplan's core infrastructure, including data pipelines, security protocols, and compliance requirements.
• Communicate project progress, technical challenges, risks, and key decisions effectively to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring transparency and alignment.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and related technologies, and evaluate their applicability to enhance Anaplan's AI platform.
• Promote a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement, fostering professional growth among team members.
• Support recruitment efforts to attract top AI talent, participate in interviews, and help build a high-performing team aligned with company values and objectives.

Requirements

• Proven experience in software engineering with a strong background in leading and managing engineering teams.
• Extensive hands-on experience in building, deploying, and maintaining AI applications in production environments.
• Deep understanding of large language models (LLMs), APIs, prompt engineering, and conversational AI methodologies.
• Familiarity with agentic frameworks and architectures for autonomous agents, including their design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices, including writing clean, maintainable code, testing, code reviews, and version control.
• Demonstrated success in delivering complex technical projects on time, within scope, and with high quality standards.
• Strong project management skills, particularly with Agile/Scrum methodologies, to plan, execute, and monitor project progress effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear, understandable language for stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to mentor engineers, foster teamwork, and cultivate a high-performance environment.
• Experience working in fast-paced, innovative environments, with a focus on continuous learning and adaptation.
• Knowledge of data security, privacy standards, and compliance related to AI systems is a plus.

• Prior experience leading teams within rapidly growing startups or large enterprise software organizations.
• Knowledge of financial planning, analytics, or business intelligence sectors, which could inform AI application development in these areas.
• Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector databases, and semantic search technologies to enhance AI capabilities.
• Experience in model fine-tuning, evaluation, and ongoing improvement processes to optimize AI performance.
• Background in distributed systems, microservices architecture, or cloud-native development to support scalable AI solutions.
• Understanding of ITAR regulations or other compliance standards relevant to AI deployment in regulated industries.
