What you'll do
- Conduct thorough background checks on healthcare providers, including verification of education, training, and work history.
- Review and assess applications for credentialing to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in our credentialing database, ensuring all documentation is complete and readily accessible.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies in their credentials.
- Prepare and submit credentialing applications to various insurance companies and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor the expiration dates of licenses and certifications, ensuring timely renewals to maintain compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of credentialing policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to credentialing from internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Participate in audits and reviews to ensure adherence to established credentialing standards and practices.
- Provide training and support to new team members on credentialing processes and best practices.
- Stay informed about changes in credentialing regulations and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Contribute to special projects and initiatives aimed at improving the credentialing process and overall service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in credentialing, preferably within a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and credentialing standards, including NCQA and URAC guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Proficient in using credentialing software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically when assessing credentials.
Nice to have
- Certification from a recognized credentialing organization, such as the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare databases.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare compliance regulations.
- Previous experience in a customer service role within the healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of insurance credentialing processes and requirements.
