What you'll do
Define component-level functional objectives that align with vehicle-level goals for mirror systems.
Coordinate with suppliers during design reviews to ensure deliverables meet client specifications and quality objectives.
Perform benchmarking, competitive analysis, and technology investigations to inform design decisions.
Drive compliance with regulatory requirements and address part variation and failure modes to protect customer satisfaction.
Communicate development status weekly using issues lists, timelines, and technical presentations for stakeholders.
Assist business case development by proposing innovative approaches to meet functional targets with reduced investment.
Evaluate supplier proposals during RFQ and confirm that component designs and releases meet program needs.
Provide on-site regional support for interior mirror engineering and manufacturing teams.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
Bring 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering.
Show proven experience with mechatronic component design and release, preferably for interior mirrors.
Understand vehicle physical integration and regulatory compliance processes.
Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in design reviews.
Use TeamCenter, NX, or CATIA for model and drawing integrity and data management.
Work with electrical test benches for software integration and validation.
Leverage tools such as CANoe, INCA, Witech, or CDA for calibration and diagnostics when applicable.
Engage in design for DFMEA, DVP&R, and reactive problem-solving activities.
Interface with EE systems engineering to develop vehicle functional specifications and perform requirements analysis.
Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams using project management practices.
