About the role
The is responsible for safeguarding the structural integrity and airworthiness of the airline's active fleet through meticulous engineering support. This role owns the end to end process of developing, reviewing, and approving structural repairs and modifications to ensure strict compliance with regulatory mandates and internal standards. You will serve as the primary technical authority for structural integrity, translating complex engineering requirements into actionable repair documentation. The position requires proactive engagement with original equipment manufacturers and regulatory bodies to resolve structural challenges efficiently. You will own the technical justification for every repair design and ensure that all deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy and safety. This role directly supports the reliability and operational continuity of the airline's essential services. You will be a critical partner in maintaining the fleet's structural soundness while enabling cost effective and timely maintenance execution.

What you'll do
Perform detailed structural analysis to evaluate parameters such as bearing, shear out, joint strength, repair splice, and doubler sizing for Airbus and Boeing platforms.
Coordinate directly with OEM representatives to obtain timely approvals for proposed repairs, ensuring all technical concerns are addressed clearly and professionally.
Create comprehensive damage reports utilizing photographs, engineering drawings, and relevant SRM sections to accurately define the scope and impact of structural issues.
Develop and maintain robust engineering documentation that provides precise instructions for technicians performing repairs at line and heavy maintenance facilities.
Classify all repairs accurately as major or minor in alignment with Allegiant standards, ensuring correct procedural handling and regulatory reporting.
Assess damage in collaboration with maintenance technicians to verify accurate evaluation per the Structural Repair Manual and related reference documents.
Investigate structural reliability issues during surveys at MRO locations to identify trends and inform the development of typical repair solutions.
Obtain formal approvals from OEM and FAA authorities for alterations and repairs, managing communications to minimize delays and redundant exchanges.
Prepare substantiation reports that provide a rigorous technical basis for modification and repair designs, supporting safety and certification requirements.
Travel to MRO facilities and Allegiant maintenance bases to train personnel on company engineering processes, documentation standards, and compliance procedures.
Review proposed modifications for regulatory and company compliance, ensuring all structural work adheres to applicable rules and service bulletins.
Support the reliability department by contributing to initiatives that enhance structural performance and long term fleet reliability.
Assist line and heavy maintenance personnel with technical interpretations of drawings, service bulletins, and structural directives during repair execution.
Perform other engineering duties as assigned to address evolving fleet requirements and operational needs.
Requirements
Possess a Bachelor's Degree in a related field as the foundational level of technical knowledge for this role.
Hold authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986, with no sponsorship available for this position.
Successfully pass a Criminal Background Check as a mandatory condition of employment.
Accumulate a minimum of five years of relevant experience in airline engineering, MRO engineering, or an OEM MRB environment.
Demonstrate hands on experience developing structural repairs for Airbus and or Boeing aircraft types.
Apply advanced experience with Airbus and or Boeing drawing systems, SRM, CMM, CML, PMS, OEM Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, and digital platforms such as Airbusworld and or MyBoeingFleet.
Execute general stress analysis tasks to determine critical factors such as bearing strength, shear margins, joint strength, repair splice sizing, and doubler configuration.
Engage OEM support effectively by producing clear damage documentation using photos, drawings, and SRM excerpts and by articulating technical issues.
Prepare detailed engineering documentation for modifications and repairs that will be used by technicians across various line and MRO operational settings.
Collaborate with maintenance technicians to ensure accurate damage evaluation in strict accordance with SRM guidelines and company procedures.
Make correct major and minor repair determinations, ensuring precise classification in accordance with Allegiant policies.
Develop substantiation reports that convincingly justify the design and implementation of modification and repair solutions.
Secure necessary approvals from OEM and FAA entities for all alterations and repair activities conducted on the fleet.
Provide training and survey support at MRO locations to facilitate consistent execution of Allegiant engineering processes.
Maintain clear and continuous communication with OEM partners to resolve issues, share damage data, and obtain prompt approvals.
Adhere to all outlined responsibilities and standards as additional duties are assigned to address evolving operational requirements.
Nice to have
Bring A319 and or A320 structural repair and alteration development expertise to advance fleet wide initiatives.
Contribute B737 Max structural repair and alteration development experience to enhance technical capabilities.
Offer prior experience in Liaison Engineering within a commercial airline to strengthen cross functional collaboration.
Apply background in developing engineering documentation directly from FAA and OEM documents to improve documentation accuracy.
