What you'll do
- Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle, from gathering initial requirements to deploying final solutions.
- Design and create n-tier architectures and reusable software components that enhance system functionality.
- Identify and address performance issues to maximize system efficiency and resource usage.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Quality Assurance, and IT Operations to ensure that technical solutions align with business objectives.
- Perform code reviews and uphold development standards across various teams to maintain high-quality outputs.
- Create prototypes for key business initiatives and refactor existing applications to improve performance and usability.
- Provide mentorship to team members, fostering their professional development and technical skills.
- Influence and contribute to the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Engage in strategic planning sessions to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the technology stack.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of technology.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration to ensure seamless integration of systems and processes.
- Lead initiatives to enhance system security and compliance with industry regulations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is advantageous.
- At least 12 years of software development experience, preferably within middleware, airline, or hospitality industries.
- A minimum of 9 years of experience in developing multi-tiered, high-volume, fault-tolerant systems in Linux environments.
- Proficient in Java (versions 8 and 9), server-side JavaScript (Node.js, Meteor), PHP (7.x), C#, C++, Python, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, and frameworks such as AngularJS, ReactJS/Redux, or Backbone.
- Familiarity with JBoss/Wildfly, Spring Boot (version 2.0), Tomcat, SOAP/RESTful Web Services, Microservices, XML, and JSON.
- Strong expertise in both SQL and NoSQL databases, including DB2, MySQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
- Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks like Hibernate, Sequelize, Doctrine, or Mongoose.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), algorithms, data structures, domain-driven design, and data modeling principles.
- Must possess authorization to work in the United States.
- A successful criminal background check is required for this position.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack, along with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Docker, or Ansible.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques, deep learning, and statistical modeling concepts.
- Experience with message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, AMQ, or ZeroMQ.
- Knowledge of service discovery tools, including Consul, Eureka, or Zookeeper.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Splunk, DataDog, ELK Stack, or SumoLogic.
Skills & tools
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, TravisCI, or TeamCity.
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, Jasmine, or Mocha.
- Proficient in using Git for version control.
- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies to enhance project management and team collaboration.
Practical notes
