About the role
Agile Robots is seeking engineers to join our team focused on Networking and Communication Systems. You will build and deploy software for advanced robotics and AI-driven platforms while managing system integration and technical support. In this capacity, you will act as a key contributor to the design and execution of scalable software solutions that bridge the gap between complex robotic hardware and intelligent AI systems. The role demands a proactive approach to defining, implementing, and supporting the software stack that powers next-generation automation. What you'll do
- Create, test, and support production-ready software applications that form the backbone of our robotics infrastructure.
- Manage the entire development lifecycle from initial requirements gathering through detailed design, implementation, and final deployment to ensure timely delivery.
- Produce maintainable, high-quality code and participate in regular peer reviews to uphold coding standards and share best practices.
- Identify and fix software bugs and performance bottlenecks using systematic debugging and analysis techniques to minimize system downtime.
- Assist in defining system architecture and improving existing codebases by refactoring legacy components and integrating modern design patterns.
- Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of software in live production settings, responding promptly to alerts and operational feedback.
- Implement automated testing frameworks and continuous integration pipelines to verify software quality and adherence to strict compliance standards.
- Collaborate with hardware and AI teams to ensure seamless interoperability between robotic actuators, sensors, and control software layers.
- Document technical processes and system behaviors to facilitate knowledge transfer and support long-term maintainability.
- Contribute to the strategic technical roadmap by providing insights based on real-world deployment challenges and emerging technology trends.
Requirements
- Master degree in Software Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline demonstrating advanced theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Strong coding skills in Python, C++, C#, and JavaScript across multiple paradigms including object-oriented and functional programming approaches.
- Experience working within Linux environments, including proficiency with command-line tools, shell scripting, and system-level operations.
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and version control using Git to manage codebases and collaborate effectively in distributed teams.
- Understanding of standard software engineering methodologies, design patterns, and development principles such as Agile, SOLID, and DRY.
- Proven ability to write clean, efficient, and well-structured code that is easily understandable and modifiable by other engineers.
- Experience with troubleshooting complex software issues in distributed environments where multiple systems interact concurrently.
- Commitment to following security best practices and ensuring that all implemented solutions comply with organizational and industry standards.
Nice to have
- Experience with both frontend and backend development to enable full-stack contributions where necessary.
- Knowledge of cloud-based applications, microservices, and distributed systems to support scalable and resilient architectures.
- Proficiency with databases and API design including GraphQL, REST, and HTTP/HTTPS to enable efficient data exchange.
- Familiarity with message brokers, event-streaming, and protocols like AMQP, MQTT, WebSockets, and HTML for real-time communication.
- Experience with machine-to-machine protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, CAN Bus, or EtherCAT for industrial automation scenarios.
- Background in network fundamentals including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DDS, load balancing, and routing to optimize system performance.
